It’s virtually a testimonial. It’s very common in the UK and US sports to hold a testimonial for a club legend and generally the money goes to them as a thank you.

I’m willing to let it pass given Pendlebury’s financial circumstances.

His best mate/manager ripped him off of millions of his career earnings and recently just folded his fund to prevent any sort of pay back.

So what about other players who made bad investments and didn't do due diligence?

Sucks for him, but his standing in the game shouldn't dictate he get rewarded for bad decision making.

From the obvious salary cap rorting already discussed, sets a very dangerous precedent if this is given the green light.

And what if they did do due diligence?

Didn't realise the AFL had merged with the ACCC.

Yeah same applies. Just illustrating how rank it is that he's potentially getting preferential treatment off the back of being a nuffie, just because he's a good footballer that's played a lot of games.

Exactly. Absolute sham of an organisation.

Fear that the competition/game is going to be worse in 20 years. Unrecognisable from the late 90's.

Sure they do.

Clubs spend $10’s of thousands of dollars outside the soft cap on counseling, therapy and psychologists for dead beat footballers with gambling addictions, drug addictions and perennial girl bashers and sex pests.

Our club included.
I don’t think that’s the same as a cash payment, but ok. This is still a rort.

Clears up any remaining mystery about why it needed to be a home game at the MCG. Farce.

Is he is saying there is no more excuse for us to lose anymore? Even against the top teams?

Rebuild over? With only one guy above 21 in our starting midfield, I beg to differ. Who runs out with that young a midfield and expects to win every week?

Our regular starting 6 in the midfield are X (27), LDU (26), Sheez (20) and FOS (19) with the wingers Stephens (26) and Simpkin (28).

it's not a bunch of 21 year olds with 20 games each.

Every player at every club faces unique challenges.

The fact Pendlubury reached 400+ was thanks to AFL house cucks.

This is just another step in that direction.

Maybe the umpires can carry him out on a Roman chair to start the game while Andrew Dillon and Laura Kane fan him with palm leaves.

Getting a start of the second round pick for moving 1 spot down in the top 5 picks seems excessive. The 13th, 12th and 11th placed teams are getting reamed. That’s probably right in our wheelhouse for the next few years isn’t it? Tell me they are not looking at the current ladder positions when they are making this shit up.

The vortex is back, bigger and darker than ever.
I think it's just a pick behind the 2nd rounder, not start of Rd 2.
I would've made it you get the pick equal to the points difference of the slide.
So if your pick moved from 2 to 3, it would be pick 37. 1 to 2 is pick 28. 1 to 3 is pick 19... and so on.

Someone tell me l've got Alzhiemers, or did l just hear on SEN news that all the profits from Pendlebury's record breaking game will go to, Pendlebury ? Approved by the AFL ?

Now, if he's donating it to a nominated charity, fair enough. But if it's because he's lost million$ in a stupid business deal backing Western United.......

The current collective bargaining agreement specifies that 65% of the profits (after cost of goods and royalties are paid) go to the player and 35% to the club. The AFL simply shouldn't make an exception here, even if it is to a charity.

(FWIW, the charity in question is one of those that's very good at receiving donations, having lots of footballers and TV people come to events, and hoarding cash, and less good at doing anything with the money except having it sit in the bank.)
