Is it just me, or does Kerry O'Keefe have the most annoying laugh in the world?

I believe the quote was "When I make a joke I'm always guaranteed of at least one laugh... my own" and he followed it up with his usual giggle, proving himself correct.

Having been forced by a lack of TV antenna, to listen to 3LO's coverage, I've found it it infinitely better than what's offered on TV. I guess I knew it was better, but TV is always more convenient when you have the option, so the radio never really got a look-in.

I've read plenty of criticism of Kerry O'Keefe on these boards, and I suppose I can see where people are coming from, but I reckon it's good to have a commentator who has a sense of humour and is a bit different... things like that made Geoff Boycott, Max Walker and David Gower so much better than the usual Channel 9 robotic stooges.

The laugh is a bit annoying, and some of his jokes and one-liners are appalling but he knows it, and that's part of the fun.

A bit off track here, but I read in todays paper that Dennis Cometti will be commentating more ING Cup games on Nine this summer! He's currently away on annual leave.

Who gives a fat rats tossbag about the ING cup ? Get him doing the Test series.
Totally agree, but there is one problem: Denzel has never been an Australian test captain, yet alone even worn the baggy green. They only like the top notch ex-players in that ch9 commentary box.

I think they should make an exception. I could see him wearing the beige.

I was talking to my Dad about Dennis Cometti possibly becomming the next Richie Benaud the other night and he mentioned Simon O'Donnell as someone who he thinks is being groomed for the top job.

He is currently doing a good job hosting The Cricket Show during the lunch breaks in the cricket and has done horse racing before, so he could be someone we will hear more and more on the commentry.

What does everyone think about Simon O'Donnell as a commentator?

I think SOD is pretty bloody ordinary.

Same here. Doesn't say much that is interesting, and most annoying is how his voice is very muffled.. could this because since he retired he has become so fat that his facial flab affects the way he talks (and yes I'm being serious here).

LOL so very true!

I hate the long pauses he has, but he hums or "errs" in the pause. So it sounds like he's burping or is deep thinking before he delivers his next line.

Kerry O'Keeffe is brilliant. Back when C7 used to exist, I used to watch At The Wicket just to hear him laugh.:D :D

Yeah he was especially wacky on that show. "The Buzz" was a great segment.

I don't think Ch. 9 rate him particularly highly. He was commentating on the Tests in the 1998/99 and 1999/2000 seasons but has been demoted since then to doing domestic one-dayers and the Cricket Show.

I don't rate him highly as a commentator, although I can't completely dislike somebody who gave Brad Haddin a roasting over his batting in a one-dayer a couple of years back.

By the way, wasn't O'Donnell one of the prime suspects of that immortal line 'Can't bowl, can't throw'?
