Number 2 in the entire AFL for tackles with 50 (7.1 per game). He's fast becoming a contested beast, and he isn't a drug cheat like you know who.

Equal 2nd

Very happy to see him starting to look like an A grade footballer. I always thought he had the potential but recently I had been worried he would just taper off into mediocrity. After yesterday I am confident he can become the footballer we wanted when we drafted him and he can make us all happy we didn't recruit that hippy looking ****!

I haven't understood the naysayers personally. He's been in one of best all season.
He's usually more in and under so he probably goes unnoticed to an extent. Yesterday he went for a gallop a few times and racked up outside ball.

Massively underrated by this board. Has been one of our best this year.
I think this season will be his break out year and become a genuine A grader.

Also, this is pure brilliance:

Would watch again.

Pendlebury like, that.

Has not developed as much because of the fact he has missed many preseasons. Hopefully the bad injuries are behind him and he will improve exponentially!!

Spot on! IMO once he gets a uninterrupted pre season or two people will be saying Heppell who ?

flies under the radar when he has a good but but easily noticeable when he has a great game

Good point.

His good games have lots of tackles, contested footy and rushed kicks, and he doesn't get noticed so much. When he has a great game, his gets outside ball, links up and spots up kicks to advantage, then everyone notices. Sometimes, when he gets that outside game going, the commentators even stop calling him Jackson or Vlastuin.

I've liked his season so far, but like most of our 2nd tier players, he needs to consistently have more than one dimension to his game before I love his season.

Yes, Conca likes the hard ball unlike the other front runner who doesn't.

Conca and princess Heppell have a different interpretation of going for the hard ball.

I constantly keep changing my order for who's the best out of Conca, Vlastuin and Ellis. All very good young players in the making!

If Conca could be as clean as Heppell we'd have a really serious player on our hands. That said, his most impressive work is what the fans don't normally see. His blocks in scrimmages and fast handball releases in packs are just gold class. Earlier in his career, I used to compare him to Murphy, but I just can't see that comparison any more. He's much harder, better inside and probably not as quick. If I had to describe his style, it would be a cross-over between the midfield version of SteveyJ and Hodge. A mix of super smarts and outside ability and super hardness. He still needs to improve a lot but he's tracking along very nicely.

Conca plays a really tough uncompromising brand of footy. You need to be physically mature, and very strong and fit to do it well. I reckon he is tracking very well. When he is open his skills are fine, but under pressure he lacks a bit. Give him time and I wouldn't be surprised if we have an A grader. And he has shown at times he can score heavily. If he can just get that inside game as his standard, and add on outside run and carry with some goals he is going to look like an amazing pick and will make our midfield much stronger. i suspect he will get there. But probably is a year or two away from consistently being what he is capable of.
