Support act was a pretty average DJ named DJ Swick. Forget about it.

But oh my ******* god was it incredible tonight! That's the 14th time I've seen them and it's a tie for best of their gigs with the time I saw them in Frankfurt at Jahrhunderthalle (amazing venue). Set list was a great mix off of all the albums, it was (I'll white them out in case you want it a surprise)

Hooker With a Penis
Vicarious
Sober
Schism
Pushit
Intension
Lateralus
Jambi
Forty-Six & 2
Ænema
Stinkfist

I have never heard them play Hooker with a penis and it is easily in my all time favourite songs and for them to open with it blew me away. That and Pushit, another I had never heard them play live, were the main reasons I picked up a guitar and started riffing, just awesome.

On top of that they had their entire visual & light show on display, I've always been critical of how cheap some of the graphics are that they have on their screens but they've got some new one that look incredible. Just amazing. Lasers are always fun. They're one of the few bands that put on a complete live performance, from sound & sight, it's just incredible.

P.S. Danny Carey is just amazing to watch pound the skins. Beast.
P.P.S. Tittered at Maynard coming in a few bars too early on Vicarious.
P.P.P.S. I've already bought my ticket for tomorrow nights show :D

I, for one, am surprised a few of those ^^^ got through the potty-mouth filter.

Speaking of 'full package' bands (wow, that segue sounds wrong in that context)...but anyone here Sigur Ros fans?

I've seen them ~10 times now, but I'm still coming down from seeing them at Brissy Harvest a few months back.

Yep, big big big fan! Was going to say they are up there with Tool in that regard, their whole gig is sublime.

Loving that set list Tairy.

Much banter from Maynard? He normally doesn't mind a chat.

Yeah he had a little bit to say, mostly at the start and end but they kept doing their little jams and interludes between songs so it's all good.

Last song...

Very sad to hear of Jeff Hanneman's passing, got to meet him a few times and he is a true metal legend and just such a gentleman had time for everyone he met and just enjoyed life, unlike some other members of the band. Wrote some absolutely brutal songs and influenced a lot of people and musicians. RIP Jeff.

Tool, Tool, Tool, ......im sure they were awesome BUT bet they werent as good barnesy at twin towns last year.

Missed out on mumford and sons, when they were here last...BUT get a chance to see them at splendour in a couple of months.

Wow. Shocking news Tairy. First I'd heard of the news. One of the first CD's I ever got was Angel of Death at about 5 or 6 and loved them ever since. What a sad day. Jeff can now go work his magic upstairs with another legend, Dimebag.:(

For those other metal heads around these parts, if you haven't seen it before, tune into ABC2 at midnight and check out Sam Dunn's first doco Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. I've seen all of Sam's work and they are all top notch.

Went to see the Counting Crows after the Bulldogs game a few weeks back.

Reliving it now on the live webcast on youtube.

AWESOME!! Getting a real understanding why our #1 Bay 13er chose his username.

I believe it will be online for 30 days. Well worth a look!!
Saw counting crows at wembley arena about five years ago, supported by the hold steady, great show.

Tool were outstanding as others have already said.

Loved the improvisation built on top of their classics. Such a tight show - guys are serious pros.

Was mesmerised by the drumming of Danny Carey. He's a freak. Those double kicks!

Download 2006, loved it :D Devin is a music God.

Very impressive list by the way!

I had one oppurtunity in 2003, I even had my ticket and was ready to go that night, but it just so happened that my mother and stepfather were getting hitched the same day, which wasn't gonna stop me, but in all the activity and goings on surrounding the wedding I accidentally left my ticket at home and when it came time to leave for Strapping I realised what had happened and there was just not enough time to get back and then get to the gig. I was shattered. As it turned out that was the last oppurtunity I had to see them, still hurts to this day.

What do you do in your spare time??:p

Very nice list, good to see Butterfly effect in there a few times. We use to go see them any time they were one. Was a few years there were we would always be seeing a live gig from Gyroscope, butterfly effect, Wendy icon, trial Kennedy and countless others. Some damn good live gigs out there, but don't get time these days now with a young one. I get along to soundwave every year now to get my yearly fix. Pretty happy with the line up this year, not a heap of my favourite bands, but plenty I've never seen live, so nice trade off.

Figure I'll share my tiny list

Linkin Park - 2007 (Chris Cornell opener) My first ever gig. I was 15 at the time, so no judgement :p
Pearl Jam - 2009 (Ben Harper opener)
Muse - 2010 (Biffy Clyro opener)
Stone Temple Pilots - 2011 (Grinspoon opener)
Wavves - 2012
Soundwave - 2013
Wavves & Unknown Mortal Orchestra - 2013
FIDLAR - 2013 (Dune Rats opener)
Frenzal Rhomb - 2013

WOW! :thumbsu:

Think I'm picking a theme there... lol

Don't see many of or about that genre - but have seen Shellac and thinking I've got to pull the finger out and catch The Jesus Lizard in some shape or form next month which might be of interest.
