SEN has just confirmed that essendons coach for 2008 is Mathew knights. ANother richmond player turned coach for dons.. 2 in a row


Thoughts on how he would fair up?... many don supporters are unhppy...

Loved Knighta as a player, but ...well...you know, was ordinary at Port and hasn't done much at Bendigo.
Must have done something right though.

Thats what I cant quite work out. He hasnt done much at either of those clubs.

One of my favourite Richmond players ever, love Knighter and wish him all the best.

Still hate the scum though.

Couldnt agree more.

Very big surpise that he got the job. A lot of rebuilding left for the Essendon FC which may mean a few years at the latter half of the ladder.
Will they be forgiving?... hope so but for christs sake some wanted sheedy to coach again!!!! coach the EFC until he was a pile of ashes!!!!
just hope he does well...xcept gainst the tigers!!!

Unbelievable that Sheedy had bred so many disciples constantly talked about as his replacement - Daniher, O'Donell, Harvey, Thompson, Hardwick even Dean Bailey was a Sheedy boy. He also resurected the careers of Robert Shaw and Gary Ayres as standby, only for Matty Knights to waltz in as the next senior coach of Essendon.

dude, we are the experts in what you you have been on for the last few years and what you are about to embark on. Not that we feel sorry for you, but we kind of got a soft spot for Knighta. but hey, he will get experience and take your money in the meantime. Hird's gone.

Lucas (30), Lloyd (30), Fletcher (32), Michael (30), Camporeale (32), J.Johnson (30) won't be too far behind.

Bolton, Peverill, Heffernan, Cole should all go.

Mark Johnson (29) is being shopped around for a handfull of beans and is finished.

Ramanauskus is a legend but at 27 and struggling he would be cut if his circumstances were different.

Many of the Bombers' 'youngsters' are hardly on the rise Davey (23), Johns (23), Laycock (23), Lovett (25), Lovett-Murray (25), Winderlich (23). That is a lot of fringe players without a heap of improvement left.

Kinghts can bail water as fast as he likes but the boat is going to be filling up pretty quickly.

Kinghts hasn't gotten the job as Essendon coach ... he has kept the job as Bendigo coach ... it is just that his Bendigo team will be running around in Essendon jumpers these next 2 seasons.
