Congratulations Brisbane.

Last night and in the last few weeks I saw what Eagles showed in the last 4 games of last year.

A certain type of no nonsense toughness in approach

Voss has got the new look team playing his style.
A very physically strong approach.

If Woosha was not coach of the Eagles I would get VOSS IMMEDATELY, ahead of Malthouse.

He is now poised to make Brisbane a powerful team.

He has done his apprenteship and made his mistakes.
Now its all up hill.

You will find that getting Voss from the start was the correct decision.

I'm starting to warm to Voss but still think he needs senior help...not the current people he has esp Rawlings.

Like the idea of Craig (has he got a job yet?)

So after three years of coaching, the jury is still out on whether Voss can actually coach. Yes he has served an apprenticeship, and yes he still needs to have a senior mentor a la Bomber Thompson or Neil Craig above him.

Is he a senior coach yet in his own right ? No.
Do I trust him with the valuable Lions? No.

As Mark McClure said on 360, we must think he is a deity.
If he was coaching in Melb, he would've been sacked in his second year.

Thanks to the originator of this thread. Yes Vossy has got the team playing in his mould of 'kamikaze' , but its unsustainable. Look at our injuries these last two years. Lions don't have the depth to play kamikaze, and we won't have the depth for several more years (5) due to our poor recruitment and development since our flag years.

Oh, and we tried to avoid the paucity of the GC and GWS concessions by getting 6 mature age recruits. As Meatloaf would say "2 out of 6 aint bad". We traded draft picks for them. "Don't worry they're in the forties". Garry Ablett was pick 46 in his draft.

Talk a bit of sense will you...we traded one pick in the forties and got Raines..a success.

We did not even lose having a pick in the forties in that draft getting Harwood with pick 47...a success.

The use of pick 60 for X.Clarke is looking shaky right now but we used pick 73 for O'Brien...a success.

Retzlaff was a pick in the eighties and is promising a lot for a tall in his second season.

Garry Ablett,a father son selection and known talent,is as much a genuine forties selection as Jonathan Brown was a genuine pick 30.

We only traded for 5 Players in 2009...Staker,Buchanan,Raines,Clarke and Fevola and the only costly one was Fevola and apart from that trade the vast majority of poor recruitment happened in the pre-Voss period.

I take it you are blaming the horrid injury outcome of the last 2 seasons on what you call the Voss kamikaze style of commitment to the hard ball and determination to win...with the Brown exception (and you can't blame Voss for Browny's attitude),that is nonsense (look at the injury causes) and suggests that you would like to see a softer approach.

Dylan?

So you believe that what happens in Melbourne is right? Woosha would probably have been sacked if he was the coach of a club in Melbourne last year, lucky he wasn't. Voss was hired as an inexperienced coach, he had to learn on the job and the club has admitted they screwed up as well. The players back Voss and that is good enough for me, a few of our top players have had huge offers to leave the club and haven't.

Genius as myth

Why the myth of genius supercoach exists

Who is Mark McClure again?? some old wank.

Ridiculously ill-informed, deluded has-been. I've never seen a panel (on 360) treat one of it's members like a slightly racist elderly relative at a family gathering- they can barely stop themselves eye rolling at some of his comments. Serial Voss hater.

True :D

I like that show when it is just Robbo and Gerard Whately, not so much when the other two come in.

Lets look one year into the past ... Brisbane was a basketcase.

Now, all the players are united and looking forward to the future. The people in charge seem professional and forward-thinking. We also have an excellent recruitment team.

Vossy to his credit has taken advice on board and is improving rapidly in my opinion. I actually didn't expect this. If we pin Vossy's development to all the young guns coming through then it is pretty exciting.
