I have heard a great deal of talkback on this tonight and read a few forums. Why has this decision led to personal attacks on Matty Lloyd??

Surely not up there with Lloyd's goal, a clear winner. In years to come, Lloyd's goal will be remembered alongside the Jesualenko mark in the 1970 GF and Blights torp from 70m out on the siren at Princes Park.

It was definitely not the worst Goal of the Year as someone suggested, it was a great goal. Just thought that this year there were an astonishing amount of great goals, e.g. Fev's one where he ran the Saints player down, turned around and kicked one from well outside 50. Surely that wasn't the best of them. Oh well, still a good goal.

What I actually meant was, of all the Goals to ever win the GOTY award, surely this must rank at the bottom of those. Not, of all the goals kicked this year, it was the worst one. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Maybe I didn't explain myself properly.

Worst Captain of 2007 would have to be Lance Witless, for sure... 140Kg of ginger lethargy, struggling to get a gig, let alone a kick, in the Magoos!! He gets my vote!

People who say Lloyd should have been free kicked for dropping the ball really need to get a better understanding of our game. No-one was tackling Lloyd at the time, so the fact that he dropped the ball behind him is no different to a bounce, and then he just kicked it. Watch the replay closely, he did the whole action before being grabbed, that's why the goal was so brilliant. I was at the game and laughed for about 5 minutes afterwards. It was sheer genius.
