Just on coaches, I really rate Simpson. He's a thorough man, disciplined and a little bit obsessive. He has a calm head on his shoulders.

As for Richo - love him to bits. The players are truly playing for him. That is about as big a testament as is needed, but his time was well past come. We were lucky he was still available as he should have been given the gig somewhere long before now. Just grateful that he was still available and thankful that Port and Ken Hinkley were gracious enough to let him have his chance at the big time.

What I am hearing though Kildonan, is he was only available because he had taken himself off the market, so to speak, for fear of being rejected. That's just what I hear from a Port mate who travelled to all the finals with the Power last year. If that is the case, it makes no sense that other's didn't see his value and I am truly glad he was talked into having a crack.
