Just re-watched the R20 game......wouldn't it be good if next season Connors could find that form on week in week out basis?

Did he play as a midfielder at all when he was a junior? Does anyone see him breaking into our emerging midfield?

Re: Conners

He will definantly have a crack. i think 09 might be sink or swim for him.

I'm confidant he will swim. he has that something about him that will give the spark that browny gives us, and we could use someone like that when browny hangs up the boots.

Re: Conners

One player that will miss AFL games if Cousins gets drafted.
:thumbsu:

Edit: When I do thumbs up, I don't mean "Good, Conners is a dud and the fewer games the better," I meant "Good call beaves."

Re: Conners

Yeah if Ben gets drafted by us guys like Connors and Edwards will find it tough to get a game until some or all of Jonson, Bowden, Richo, Brown retire. Initially i was a bit worried about this but Geelong wouldn't have been so strong unless good players missed out. Connors will get his chance and he will be better for having to work his date off for it. I loved watching him play last season but he does lack the fitness and hard body that it takes. Would like to see him go harder at the ball at times and not wait for it to come.

Re: Conners

I dont think he will miss out because of cousins. Teams have big midfield rotations these days. Players go from Half Back, to Half Forward plus along the wings and some even deep in the forward and backlines as pockets.

the main midfield rotation we will have is Lids, Cuz, Axel, Cotch, Tuck, Browny....with blokes like White, and Johnson here and there coming from the Forward flanks.

Connors is actually quite versatile in a Deledio type of way, he can play deep forward, and flanks and wings.

He was training with Jack and Cotch in the offseason so he will work build a bit bigger tank this pre-season and be able to play off the bench and be an impact player untill we have an injury or he forces his way into the starting 18.

I have faith in Dan Connors, he could be a very valuable player for us. Give him two years and this debate will be over! he'll either be gone or a regular starter.

09 could be a good year for him though! we'll just have to wait and see.

I think Cousins will take Johnson's spot in the side.

Connors has the potential to be an absolute star, it was good to hear that he was training in the off-season. Has that X-factor and I think next year he'll play in the forward line with stints in the middle.

connors will become a regular, johnson will become iregular (spelling)

cuz.axel,lids,tuck,brown,white,coggs (i hope),hislop,thomson,newman,polo
raines,tambling,jackson,

all these players will be ahead of johnson by the end of rnd 22 2009

Re: Conners

Nope he will miss out.

Do you have a crystal ball?

If Connors' is good enough, he will play games. I'm sure we will have injuries too.

Re: Conners

So I guess Brent Prismall wasn't good enough for AFL.

Are you saying our team is equal to Geelong's? I thought we had a crap list?

No, although it was obvious someone would draw that conclusion. The difference is that Geelong have mid-aged players battling it out for spots, while richmond could potentially have 6 31+ year olds taking spots.

These 30+ year olds aren't exactly hacks though. Johnson is probably the only one who could find it hard to keep his spot. I know a lot of Richmond fans don't like Bowden, but he is a class act and should play most games in '09.

The positive side of having these 30+ year olds is that is gives the younger players, like Connors competition for spots in the 22, which I am sure you agree is good for the club.
