Look I know this thread is a little premature but considering we are 13 points down, conceeding 2 goals early in the fourth to a roo less saints, kicking 4 14 can we really be considered contenders. Imagine playing these guys with both kossie and roo all game.

I'll eat my words if we get up but I don't think we should get ahead of reality.

I dunno I think the accuracy is more worrying. It's been a constant issue for a while now and looking like it might cost the game, if we lose surely the coaching staff would have to start looking at it more closely?

No forward line, can't kick straight, no hope.

This game was ours for the taking. Their stars wounded, Riewoldt off, dominating possession... and now we're getting belted. Soft and pathetic. We're not good enough I'm afraid, the Saints are a class above.

From what we've seen so far this year.. pretenders.

Really hope things change.

But we need,

on-field leadership. We can't seem to stop a team getting a run on, our players go missing.

Goal kicking. That won't change over night

Forward line structure. Its a mess.

Idiots, it was a good game - we failed at executing goal kicking and they got some lucky ones in the last quarter. We then had to press, which resulted in a few more due to our structure having to change

Watch it again. The same "team" that turned up to play Melbourne came out at second half of tonight. Not a good sign this early in the year with such a tough draw.

our forwards move up too far, cloke for eg, goes all the way to the hbf to take a mark. pisses me off.

Ok let's not go overboard.

We dominated and ran with the Saints all night, even when Roo was on.

Our kicking for goal killed us, but we played a lot better tonight than against the Saints in our two encounters last year.

The Saints flogged us twice last year in every statistic imaginable. Wasn't the same story tonight. A very disappointing loss, but still a lot of positives to take out of it.

We're definitely in contention.

Also, hats off to Ball, thought he played really well tonight against his old club.

Saints were gutsy to tough it out, whilst we showed nothing in the 2nd half. O'Bree had no petrol, Macaffer didn't do enough, McCarthy was too slow and our smalls well ...enough said. Dawes will have to at least be given a go next week, but where are our goals going to come from?

That's the problem though mate, we won around the ground, and still got smashed. We don't convert on our opportunities, that's what good sides do. Yes, it's promising that we were doing well even when Roo was on, but put simply, we are not going to contend for the flag if we can't (a) play four quarters, (b) convert easy goals and opportunities, (c) hit easy targets around the ground, and (d) stop a run-on by the opposition. So much work to be done, have to roll the dice on Dawes.

Contenders, no way.......get a forward line and maybe a chance. Can't even beat the Saints who had 2 on the bench, plus their best palyer out of the game....we are ordinary at the best.

You are the idiot bad kicking is bad football, how do you expect to win if we can't kick? 17 points isn't kicking badly thats almost impossible bad. Lucky ones? they weren't lucky they were result of effort the saints but their heads down their bums up and said were going to win this game and thats what happend.

Watch it for the first time! Smashed them in the 3rd but, again, didn't convert. Don't know what you think you were watching.
