ROOKIE LIST

With the entry of the Gold Coast Suns and GWS Giants into the AFL, clubs were permitted to have a minimum of four and up to eight players on their rookie list but starting from 2013 the maximum will be reduced to six. These six rookies are now classified as Category A rookies.

In addition to these six rookie-listed players, each club can include up to three additional players (now referred to as Category B rookies) on its Rookie List provided the player either:

• has not registered in an Australian Football competition for three years immediately before inclusion on the Rookie List;
• is an international player, meaning he is not an Australian citizen and has not lived in Australia for a substantial period;
• is a former NSW Scholarship player with that club;
• is a former International Scholarship player with that club;
• is a rookie Zone Selection for clubs based in NSW or Queensland.

Yeah, I've just put him in with the players or should we have a separate coaches section? Although people probably couldn't care less about the coaches other than Longmire.

I think we will keep Seaby just for depth purposes.

And I think we will probably delist the Spang and draft him onto our rookie list, He was very good for us last year... Just has had a few too many injuries this year.

I think the opposite. Seaby will be gone (which probably means Jesse White will get another year as depth as well as another fringe AFL ruckman or VFL/SANFL ruckman who might get brought in) and Spangher will get another go.

Didn't realise we had so many players coming off contract at the end of this season. What is taking so long? Are we supremely confident of keeping them, with a deal in principle, but just yet to sign? Need to sign JPK back up.

Malceski (Unfortunately) and TDL could both be possibly tempted away to other clubs... (Hopefully not)

Would be interesting to see what kind of contract we offer Bird... He seems like the type of player who could go to another club and really explode...

Need to get Kennedy, McGlynn and Pyke signed up as soon as possible...

(Can see some clubs really sniffing around Pyke at the moment...)

I couldn't see clubs taking a risk on Malceski given his knees. It would be too much of a risk for other clubs to take that on i reckon.

Agree on Kennedy, McGlynn and Pyke though. I've really warmed to Pyke this year.

I could see GWS possibly taking a chance on Malceski... Or maybe a team that urgently needs a rebounding defender...

JPK is going to burn a hole in our pocket. There's a rumour on the trade board, that he was expecting to be paid $650K when at Hawthorn (wtf?) and that he's on $450K now. He might be asking for $1M+ for 4 years if that story is anything to go by.

lol at that rumour. Load of BS he was asking that much. There would be around 10 players who earn more that that in the whole leage probably. I highly doubt a bit part player would have asked for that.
