Our beloved sport of cricket does not seem to be in the best of health in Australia. In my experience at university it seems most younger folk view it as something to be mocked (MOCKED!) as taking too long, complicated rules, "play for five days and no result". Those that are not derisive are simply content to say "NIIIICE GARRY" like some soccer hooligan. This situation is untenable, those who follow footy codes without appreciation for the national sport is bad enough, but I feel the dread encroachment of soccer rearing its head.

How can this be overcome? How can we defend the soul of Australia? Cricket Australia is content to hold Milo carnivals to boost their stats, but who is going to ensure people follow the Test team and (more importantly) make sure young folk are inspired to actually join up for social park cricket? It seems to me this takes expansion at the grassroots.

Who has experience in bringing cricket to the masses and what learnings can you share so that we may replicate this and expand and consolidate cricket culture to demographics which are untapped.

I refuse to acknowledge soccer as a sport in this country. Shame not a game.
