This thread on cross immunity is worth reading.

Bottom line is, taken with T-cell findings there’s good evidence of population-wide prior immunity. It’s debatable what fraction of the population had functional immunity but I find compelling the suggestion that it was a substantial proportion & that this varied geographically.

The reason I get cross with pseudoscience BS about variants “escaping immunity” is in this paper. There are so many different nucleocapsid peptide epitopes recognised by our memory T-cells that’s there’s no chance that small alterations from variants escaping recognition.

Explain to me though. People with the vaccine can still get the virus, and can still pass it on to others. These are still possibilities. So given that, and given some people like the good people of this thread won’t have the vaccine, I genuinely think these “new normal” restrictions are here for good. Which people fail to raise because they are too blind. It’s depressing. Reduced crowds, travel restrictions at the drop of a hat, quarantining, mask wearing, QR codes, hand sanitizers everywhere, I refuse to believe this is life moving forward.

Hence the term, "new normal". It's been used from the start, even from the very first weeks. It's gonna slowly phase to "normal" and "new normal" will be curfews and god knows what else.

Legally you can be medically exempt from wearing a mask without needing to provide proof. Your employer is also not at all responsible for anything that happens to you so they're off the hook as well.
