with each solution come new problems, in the case of an accident who is culpable for example? the manufacturer, the software vendor? the owner?

The real issue is a mix of human drivers and auto vehicles. Auto vehicles will operate on the basis that every car will operate according to the rules:)

I can’t get my head around how an auto driving car would distinguish between say...a child riding their bike on the footpath and a kangaroo hopping along from out of the scrub

The kid would be protected by their GatesCHIP tm.

Cool, thanks for the heads up, but I think it is pretty irrelevant in the context of a global pandemic 👍
You think the way deaths are classified during a pandemic is irrelevant to the discussion about said pandemic?

This is what I'm talking about. The juvenile attitude of people who have gotten wrapped up in the news and government fear-bombing.

The irony being that that graph is no less scientific than the primary school tier bullshit 'graphs' we are being shown on the news about the 'flatten the curve' mantra.

Most people's understanding of statistics is so utterly woeful that they will confuse cartoons featuring unlabeled axes with real science.

The irony being that you're the only one who saw the need to critique it.

I'm honestly unsure how anyone would read that graph as much more than satire.

But sure, you use it as a point of how you know what 'most people' understand about statistics. Which on the topic of understanding is an unquantifiable guess that you're passing off as fact.

Go you though.

How's those nanobots.

I am comfortable with the CDC’s guidance to qualified death certifiers that, in the absence of a confirmed test, they make a determination on the probability of COVID-19 based on all available evidence.

I don’t find this controversial, I find it logical and pragmatic.

You said you only wanted to point it out, that you are not suggesting any type of conspiracy. You also don’t seem to have an alternative suggestion. So once again, thanks for the info. Noted. Move on. 👍

Prayers up for Lachie Hunter! Really struggling with the covid-19 isolation - the excuse given for:

- drink driving
- crashing into 4 parked cars
- fleeing the scene
- blowing a 0.135 hours and hours after the crash

I appreciate there are 2.1M cases and close to 150,000 deaths worldwide, but please spare a thought for poor lachie.

Sounds pretty malicious to me.

There are some elements of this story which don't quite add up for me:

"It is still not known how many people are infected but display no symptoms. International estimates are as high as 60 per cent."

Why don't we know? It is not that hard to get some indication. 60% seems like a BS figure. If it were anywhere close to that number community infection would be a much, much larger problem in Australia than it is.

"The Doherty model is still largely based on Chinese data. In particular, the model bases some of its estimates on the proportion of people who die from a COVID-19 infection."

What? China represents less than 4% of the official data according to John Hopkins and, as several BF posters will attest, their data is not universally trusted.

AFL media "there's a worldwide situation going on right now and we're focusing on one individual?"

This may be the only way young isolated brave Lachie will learn.

Cue: "Mental issues"
Cue: "Deeply remorseful"
Cue: "we're 100% behind him" (because he just happens to be a good player)
Cue: "working with street kids/indigenuous/womens shelter/alcoholics anonymous in his spare time"
Cue: "brave fightback"

Cue: "Snakes escalating disdain for an increasingly shallow & gullible society"

I think he may have started "working" with alcoholics before the crash.
