Cory McGrath - has he arrived?

For the first time this season the recruiting of Cory McGrath actually looks like being a winner compared to Justin Murphy's influence at the Bombers.

Certainly looks like a real player. Creative and doesn't shirk the issue unlike Murph.

We were ripped off.:(
Sarcasm does not become you marcuz. I am merely suggesting that Cory looks like he could make it, not playing down Murph's season with the Bombers. Up until recently it looked like it would be a clear win for the Bombers but now it might turn out to be a win-win scenario.

Besides, McGrath has a few extra years left in him if he can maintain the pace.

Cory is a good player. He will have a dip and uses the pill fairly well. You got a wingman with some speed and we got an on-baller forward who can give us something until the kids in our VFL sise are ready to step up.

I don't think either club sees those to as the savior or the answer to anything. But they have and will help the teams get better.

It was the best trade last year just about in terms of two teams getting something. Both players needed a new environment, Murphy was dropping away, and McGRath couldn't get a game for some reason. Good win/win.

I agree that it was a good trade for both sides. Murphy is the more talented, but not the man for a team trying to claw its way off the bottom. He also knows this must be the last chance.
I was disappointed with McGrath's start to the season after expecting him to walk into the line-up, but he is settling in nicely.

Murphy is the better player. But his time was over at Carlton. Murphy has been a good get for Essendon who have one of the worst midfields in the league.

McGrath will be a handy player, but never anymore. I think he may be more valuable in a pocket crumbing off Fevola, Whitnall, Fisher, DeLuca etc.
Carlton is crying out for a small forward. They would be a lot more damaging with one, and probably a definite top 8 team.

I like McGrath, he gives us that extra drive and has a pretty good footy brain unlike Murphy.

Murphy was a match winner, but is very inconsistant and doesn't use the ball that well.

History shows that Murphy's 1st year at all of his clubs has been his best. Save your judgement on Murphy until the end of next year. He does tend to go missing when you need him most.

Glad to see he's playing well though as I've always liked him as a player.

Actually, disagree. McGrath has shown plenty when thrown in the middle and at clearances.

What about Kenna? He reminded me off the 'mosquito fleet' days in the late 70s early 80s. Where's Rod Ashman when you need him?

there is little doubt the Murphy has stepped up his workrate since going to the dons, well done to him.

McGrath took a while but appears to be settling in at PP. I was really impressed by his game on the weekend after doubting him so a while.

Hate to sit on the fence but perhaps a win-win verdict in regards to the trade.

Yeah I think Kenna would be a great small forward, I hope he gets another opportunity before season's end.
