Relax. It's a win-win situation.
We are protected from ridiculous unrestricted free agency raids from clubs with massive salary caps (yes Sydney I'm looking at you!) and he gets to ask for more the next time.

Playing the devil but I think it is only 2 years because Cotchin believes he'll be playing his best football in 2 years and thus will be worth more for his big 5 year contract to finish his career. I think for a captain 2 years is poor especially at his age.... Jobe just signed for 5!

This.

Good to tie him down, agree with his reasons about trying to have that hunger and motivation to work on a few areas of his game. Can't see him leaving the club down the track, too classy :thumbsu:

thing is, job is currently at the top of his game and therefore at the top of his powers to demand a contract. why would he wait another 2 years when he may be declining or injured and is therefore offered a lower contract? Cotch is not going great guns so far this year, and so would just be taking the punt that his market worth will be better in 2 years rather than locking himself into a long term but lesser contract now. im not worried at all.

Sounds like we are right on track to become the next Geelong...All the cats playing for less than market value, all of our guys squeezing out every last cent. Brilliant!

Didn't Deledio sign a similar contract at the same stage of his career, before his last one?

2 years?

It means that the next contract will be a very expensive exercise. Glad we dont have to worry about it for a few years, but l'm anticipating some painful, long drawn out contract negotiations in 2015.

Well, if the contract had been any longer, wouldn't he become an unrestricted free agent? I know which one I prefer....
