Yeah.
AFL Club

After watching the game I began thinking about the progressive season of our two hyped mids. I seen someone comment that one would be included in the AA side if it were picked today. So I was wondering who you think has had the better season?

It's a real head scratcher.

I voted Dusty. Cotch is more consitent, Dusty is more explosive and exciting.

I've had Cotch in my SC team from Round 1 and he hasn't dissappointed. Wish I'd had Dusty as well though.

2 superstars.

Didn't read the post before i voted but in terms of consistency and better season i'd say that it'd be Cotchin but if it were after the first few games i'd go with dustin martin but if it were a battle i'd go with Dustin Martin as he is only 20 and has gotten 5 goals in a game within 2 seasons while Swan is 27 or something and his PB is 4 goals.

If either one of Riewoldt, Vickery, Cotchin, Deledio or Martin gets injured the whole club will go into meltdown.

It's a real head scratcher.

When I think of Martin & Cotchin - it's not so much for me a head scratcher as a head polisher... :o

49% of me thinks Cotch & 51% thinks Martin... so I vote Dusty. :thumbsu:

no wait ill leave it as dusty..................................................................................... or can i change it
damn this is too hard

Too hard to call. I'm sitting well and truly on the fence for this one.

Cotchin's more consistent, Martin is more explosive (like said above by Mr Titus).

Probably Cotchin for today, Martin tomorrow, Etc.

i'm postponing voting until this time next year.

I just want to see each of them with 1 more pre-season under their belts.

Both still have so much up side if they can take their fitness to another level - we have all seen this year the improvement in Marc Murphy of Carlton, who has gone from very good to elite on the back of a big fitness base gained from pre-season.

Also, ultimately it may be like comparing apples and oranges. They do appear to be very complimentary players though, which is a great thing for the club.

Maybe at the end of the day, it will come down to leadership ability. Cotch has it in spades, but its also hard not to be inspired when Dusty comes up with the big dont argue and goal from outside 50 in critical parts of the game.

looking at the stats and going on these almost impossible to split only thing giving martin a slight edge atm is his goals and goals contributed per game.

I choose my daughter, no wait, I choose my son... lol, so hard.

I went Cotch simply because I am so impressed with his output despite being tagged within inches of the rules pretty much every week.

I would lose Cotchin before Martin. IMO, just a more well rounded player. Cotch is still a freak inside the packs and is quite capable on the outside but Martin is just as capable on the inside (just doesn't play that role as much) but his goal kicking ability and booming kicking gives him the edge overall. Bit more damaging. I would have him on top in our B&F and it's only his 2nd year. Lucky we have both.

Gonna go with cotch.

Think hes a more consistent player.
When we get the crunch games later in the year i would rather someone like Cotch who will put in a solid game. Martin can go missing (very rarely but it happens) and in the latter part of the season if were a finals chance we need consistant players

Haha my vote made it exactly 50/50. Went with Cotchin as he has been my favourite Tiger from the day we got him. He get's tagged and scragged every week now and still puts good performances out.

But I chose him over Dusty mainly because of his leadership qualities, you don't captain a side at 19 without having a seriously good head on your shoulders.

Gonna go with cotch based on a few things.

Dustin Martin can win games off his own boot and completly bust a game open in a few minutes but on other weeks can go missing and be a bit down, while Cotch isnt the match winning type of Martin but goes out there every week with a job to and he does it. would rather someone play 22 solid games with a few great ones than someone who plays 12 blinders and then some inconsistent games

Martin is a year and a bit younger so that's a factor. Also he's not really inconsistent (not sure where people are getting this from). He had a down week when he got a tight tag against Freo. Understandable. That's really the only week he didn't have an impact. They've still won pretty much the same amount of ball despite Martin playing a lot more forward. Not sure why I'm really arguing this, we have both. :thumbsu:

I think Cotchin's had the better year overall, just a bit more consistant than Martin. That being said, Martin is a genuine matchwinner, he strikes me as the guy who can turn a game in a quarter (like his 4th quarter goals against Brisbane).

I reckon long term Cotchin will be the one who performs well week in week out, but Martin will be the one who on his day can absolutely tear a team apart. Absolutely thrilled to have both.

Easiest way to put it. Martin is a Judd and Cotchin is a Murphy, Depends which type of player you want. Cotchin will consistently do his job but Martin will win games of his boot.

I think Cotchin handling the tag every game has to come into it....Martin is amazing to watch but Cotch does everything with a tag.

WE HAVE THEM BOTH HOW MINT IS THAT...

Two totally different players.
Watch Cotchin's last quarter against Essendon and you see a player who simply refused to let us lose that game. His 1%ers were astonishing.
Watch Martin's last quarter against Brisbane and you see a player who knew he could win the game.
It's a pretty impressive combination to have.
For the sake of the argument, I chose Cotchin. Will captain our side in the next few years and will be a great leader.

F*ck I love being a Richmond supporter right now. Haven't had this sort of optimism in years. Cotchin, for the moment. Bees dick in it. Could change at any moment.
