Didn't we try Pendles in the backline beginning of last year and got crucified (by supporters and media alike) for not having him play in the guts? Moved back to the centre and we won some games.

We were forced to play him there due to his injuries.

The loss to the midfield would far outweigh any gains to the forward line. He is not a strong enough mark to be a key forward. (Nor is Keeffe)

We barely have anyone that can kick or make a good decision in the midfield as it is. Pendlebury has to stay there.

Simple question...would the team be better off with Pendlebury playing as a full time forward? He has decent height, finds space and is a reliable set shot. With the quality in our midfield could this be the sort of left centre move to get our season going?
Not that reliable in front of goal.......off topic but RIP chris Cornell

I'd be happy to see it tried, but I don't think he has the pace or the hands for it. But I've been wrong before.

No, our forward 50 entries are too chaotic...need him to deliver quality ball to the forwarss

Ahh, no.

Very poor overhead for someone who is 6'3.

Injuries or not, would almost mean it's a bust to play him back to generate forward movement? Still liking Howe, Adams, Varcoe out of backline. Davis went a little early for my liking. How about Pendles on a wing?

Your thoughts on the OP Morganashlee ?
Why do this to me?!

He's not a forward because he's not good in front of goal. He can't play down back because he doesn't defend. Midfield or bust.

On the Pies board I woud prefer the title to be 'could Pendles do a Daicos'. It is also a more apt comparison as they were/ are similar midfielders. Niether quick but just made time for themselves.

Daics a better mark but not by much, but definitey a better set shot at goal.

You're also forgetting his below average overhead skills.

Listing all his inadequacies makes me wonder why we don't trade him.

Whenever we receive the ball in our back half, Pendles should be near the player demanding a handball, so that we funnel a large percentage of our forward movement through him.

This. Pendlebury roaming across half back, then moving up with the ball/kicking towards our forward 50 means one of our best ball users gets to kick out of defence or in to our forwards. Immediately improves our team.

Turnover Adams coming out of defence?

If he had Fyfe's aerial ability sure. But at his height and with his lack of quickness (actual speed is overrated), he doesn't really have the tools to be a great forward, as good as he is in the midfield. Comparisons to Leigh Matthews are just odd. Dane Swan had he not had that horrific career ending injury, could have had a great little end to his career playing a more permanent forward role, in the Matthews vein.
