In the article about Jimmy returning to Willi this week along with Racer and Ruz, could we see big Ruz return to the black and white in round 20?

3 weeks at Willi to get some match fitness up, 2 weeks to provide a 3rd target for us come finals?

Like Burnsy said on radio yesterday. Players with these sorts of injuries can stay fit and conditioned. All he needs is some match conditioning and I think he may come into play.

Ruslings a best 25 player, but Thomas and Maxwell have proven the 3rd talls in our forward line and has worked.

I think he can return but only if the structure is in a must need re-jig. Trade bait in October and work on it pre-season if he stays at the club.

If MM is seriously thinking that Rusling could return this year after a second serious injury and no games this year then it would be pretty safe to say that he wont be traded any time soon.

And if MM and the coaching staff seem to rate him that highly - I would like to see him back to see what he can add to our forward line ASAP.

If Rus play some good games at Willi def bring him in

He is a similar type to Medhurst, except he is much quicker a really quick leading forward gives us another option instead of the power contested marking forwards in Rocca and T.Cloke, if fit and in good form he would be great back in the ones!

Medhurst is a poor mans Didak or Leon Davis (when forward) as in small forward who can either offer another option, or rove the contest when Rocca or Cloke mark. Just without the skill, determination or football brain!!!

If Rusling can offer the same small(ish) forward support to Cloke and Rocca - plus unbelievable pace in leading then we could really stretch defenders for speed. Also would mean that our midfield would improve with Didak and Davis being released to roam the centre more...

Does anyone know how good Rusling is when the ball is on the ground?

Hate to argue with you doppleganger, but he is nothing like Medhurst...
They are both small blokes who play as leading forwards......Medhurst's strength is his marking on the lead......isn't that Ruslings biggest asset??

Medhurst isn't a clever nimble silky crumbing forward like leon or dids

he is a small FF type player, like Rusling IMO

Rusling and Medhurst both aren't small forwards in the crumbing mould, they are M.Williams lead and mark type forwards

Didn't offer much last year, but didn't see much to be fair......the fact that he aint played much footy recently certainly wouldn't help him in this regard.

If Rus can play and provide a really quick leading forward target it gives us another dimension up forward

Fair point...

Although the reason I may have been confused is that he hasn't really been that impressive as that leading M.Williams FF type so far IMO

The reason I asked about Rusling as a crumber is that I dont think we would have a very effective forwardline without a few players who can apply pressure and can keep the ball in when it hits the ground. I think it would stretch backlines to have three powerful leading forwards however versatility when it hits the ground would also be an advantage

IMO this an area that he is really poor at. In his short career so far, if he does not get the ball on the lead his ability to get it on the ground appears non-existent. This is why some claim he is a lead-mark-kick one trick pony. Very quick in a straight line but his turning circle is also about as good as the Queen Mary.

Considering that one of our traits this year is our defensive work in the fwd 50, bringing Rusling in may diminish our ability there.

Clement will be back in the seniors in the next few weeks with shaw so that will give us some flexability. I think heath shaw needs a week off he is playing injured.

Rusling will come back in the seniors prob towards round 20 21.

doppleganger's post was pretty much spot on. Rusling and Medhurst are very similar, Medhurst is better at 1-on-1 marking, Rusling better on the lead. But both are undersized FF and neither are anything like Leon/Didak. Rusling is even worse than Medhurst at ground level. Neither should be playing any time this year.

For anyone wondering, he has been named at CHF in the willy 2's.

Dawes, Rusling and Macaffer are all going around in the Willy 2s this week

And Wellingham. It has something to do with the fact you can only field 14-15 AFL listed players when you play a stand alone VFL side.
