Essendon pulled off an absolute steal when they traded pick #55 for Adam McPhee, who has since become an All Australian and one of the most valuable players in the game.

Without worrying about contract situations, or what we would have to give to get a certain player, who do you guys think could become a top line player, but has struggled at his current club due to injuries or being out of favour with the coach.

I'll start the ball rolling by nominated Lindsay Gilbee. Very talented player, IMO, but hasn't been given much of a run in the midfield for a while now.

Any others?

Not too sure about Gilbee, but McPhee is an absolute gun.

He'll move into a permanent midfield role next year with Misiti out of the way and will be a rough Brownlow Medal chance.

Sticking with the Bulldogs theme

I reckon Patrick Bowden has a lot of potential.

Another one I like is young Sewell from the Hawks but I doubt he will be on offer and would need a bit of development.

Paul Thomas from Centrals who was on our Rookie list would be a good project player also.

McPhee looked handy when he was at Freo. It wasn't pick #55 alone for him. It was all part of the deal that saw the Dons get Cupido, Freo land Headland, Brisbane get Caracella, etc.

Corey Enright has plenty of potential but injuries have hindered him this year. With a possible salary cap squeeze on at Geelong, we may be able to pick him up on the cheap.

I'd like to have a good look at Enright, also Brett Moyle from St Kilda. Wingman/midfielder, 24, only played 1 game this year and his club's going to have a cap squeeze on as well.

Very impressed you mention Sewell, Jars.

The kid is SUPER talented, unfortunately stuck behind Sam Mitchell for the clearance midfield role. A few Hawks fans reckon he's already a better player than Nick Ries, and moving up the chain quickly.

If he were to leave in a year or two due to lack of opportunity, another club could get him for cheap (ala Brett Johnson) it would be an absolute steal.
