Unfortunately not. I think we will see more of the same... and considering our injury list etc , the need to go ultra defensive is possibly the best strategy

And no I wont like it but will accept it for the win

I would just really love to see us come out and play a very good attacking game of footy, I agree though injuries limit that possiblity.

I disagree. In my opinion guys like Knights, Douglas, Vince, Edwards, Goodwin, Bock etc etc etc have tremendous talent. The impression I get from our games is that our "system" has recently stamped out attacking flair. Last year we had that awesome patch because we had a near flawless gameplan and took the opposition on to let talent do the job when we saw fit. These days they play a lot more like robots - they go through the motions and never really take everyone on, or try to take the game by the scruff of the neck. It's all SYSTEM STRUCTURE GAMEPLAN. The Eagles blend structure with attacking flair beautifully. Imo that's perhaps something we've lacked in finals, we retreat right into our shells and there's no excitement.

EDIT: Imo this is also part of the reason we see few goals from crumbs, or a lot of scoring from the midfield. Whenever the ball goes to ground we try to reset and spot up another target, and our midfielders nearly ALWAYS try to spot up targets even when they're in position to run in and create an exciting goal themselves. This is only what I perceive of course, someone may throw stats at me in a minute >_>

Thanks MD. :)

I tell you what though; it will infuriate me if they give Jericho a game this week. I’m tired of hearing that we need to find out what he offers this team. To get a game surely he has to earn the right to play for the Crows, not be gifted a game. So far this year he’s proved that he’s still soft at the contest, and in his last game he had 1 kick. I know I sound like a broken record with the 1 kick stat but you can’t deny it, that’s how he’s performing when his career is on the line. I cannot believe he would be rewarded after such a dismal effort. Pfeiffer was close to BOG last weekend and Reid noted how well he had been training. He is worthy of being selected, not Jericho.

jericho has played one BOG game, and one game where he was benched for half of it and got one kick.

Pfeiffer played one game were he was one of the best.

Both would have trained hard over the preseason. So so far both have played a good game, and are probably equally deserving. The fact that you cream yourself over norwood means you give Pfeiffer the nod....

Given our injuries this week our options are severely curtailed.

This may be the perfect time to do two things if we have the courage as a selection committee to do so, because it could backfire or we could find out some further positive news about our list.

Firstly give "the Walls" (Jericho) his opportunity and give him two or three weeks to show his wares

Secondly we could bring in Pfeiffer and Hinge for two similar types. One or both may show some real talent at this level and we find even more competition between spots and a changing of the guard as better skilled players begin to show more reason to be selected than other players whose skills have let us down in the past and this year.

As Bilghty used to say you will never know unless you have a go!!!

I made this comment early this week and we decided to play safe. We tried our guts out but for no cigar.

We look slow and tired and in some cases inept. We need the injection of youth which will enable some of our tired bodies to have a rest.

I would look at resting anyone who is not close to 100% fit and who has shown they cannot play with injury. Burton would be my first change.

i would look at some guys who could bring some much needed run to his side.

Finally i would like to get a forward in our forward line who does not fall over in the marking contest and who can place pressure on the opposition defence when they run out of defence.

Lets show some real courage this week to take some risks with youngsters.

it may actually pay huge dividends in th long term.
