Cox Plate 2007

Its almost impossible fpor horses to come back as good as they where after such shocking injuries, anything to do with tendons is very serious and I would have my doubts he could reach the potential he has got. Look at poor old I got Chills, looked unbelievable on Cox Plate day 2 years ago and now is shot.

Then again their is Gallic :thumbsu: , looking forward Leica Falcons return anyway, hopefully bigger and stronger and ready to run.

Tipungwuti - can't be serious??

Absolutely agree. He has a long way top go yet. Is some chance to get there but would be 1000-1 to win it right now. The absolute safest best is Pompeii Ruler. He ticks all the boxes. Miss Finland and Haradasun if all goes well willmake it interesting and hopefully some others bob up.

If you look at the finish of the 2007 Sydney Cup and the 2006 melbourne Cup, you will note that Australia hasn;t got any genuine stayers at the moment.

Gallic won in a blanket finish, beating irazu, Prince Dandelion etc.
What a heap of one pacers.
The melbourne Cup - take away Zipping and maybe better - all the other aussies where 15 lengths behind at least.

We therefore need the overseas horses to keep the melb. cup the spectacle it is. Without them it may as be a class6 distance race.

i think you could class Efficient as a genuine stayer and possibly Tawqeet, Tawqeet was invited to the Dubai World Cup, so it says something about it

If treated well then it is very possible for horses to overcome tendon problems pending how bad it is.

Eremein surely will have a shot at the cox plate?
What happened to Xellent who ran second or third in the 2005 Mel cup? Looked promising.

Xcellent is in work now and is apparently ready to resume in a 1400m race somewhere, check the link Ron gave above a few posts.

Efficent has the X factor about him, you would think the way he hit the line in Derby over 2400m in the spring would suggest he would relish the linger trip of the Melb Cup. Remeber he is only 3 and still needs to mature and put a few kilos on, he looked a little 1 paced in the autumn but he was only running in middle distant races, he will hold his sprint for a lot longer than Haradasun and Miss Finland (although Haradasun could do anything).

Tuesday Joy looks like one that could run out the 3200, she seems to always hit the line no matter what the distance is. I think the coming spring could see a re emergance of staying stars. Leica Falcon, Eremein, Efficient, Tuesday Joy, Excellent (NZ), Maybe Better, Miss Finland, Haradsun.

Can anyone really complain?? I think the list looks fairly healthy, thought has to be given that 4 of that list are only 3yr olds and come spring will be 4 and alot more mature.

Xcellent looked a star in the making, winning a Derby at his 3rd run & also beating the older horses at WFA at 3.
Had a serious tendon problem but they have given him every hope by not rushing him & giving him the latest stem cell treatment.

Rumour is that he's off to Brisbane for the Stradbroke if all goes well, would be great to see him back anywhere near his best

If Haradasun is fully fit then he will be hard to beat in the Cox Plate. It's a big if with this horse as he does race with soreness but if right he can fly.
El Segundo isn't the horse i thought he was so I think the race is fairly open.
No real stand out horses at the moment but Haradasun sure looked good in the Doncaster.

How far is the stradbroke? I thought he was a gunuine stayer. But i'm stoked he's coming up here.
BTW Can anyone tell me who is coming up for the brisbane carnival i know of a few. Desert War, Reining to win, Activation, Dance Hero...

Stradbroke is 1400m on June 9.

Long way to go before he's a definite visitor but if they are aiming to have him back for the Spring he would have to kick off somewhere, why not Bris?
Gotta be better than NZ in winter.

He's probably a middle distance horse but he has/had the ability to accelerate off any pace. His class got him to a Melb Cup placing.
Im fairly sure he won the Mudgeway (1400) 1st up after his AJC Derby campaign in 2005.

what about Lad of The Manor??

anyone think Hoysted will give him another run at the cox plate??

would like to see him in, he is my fav horses won me abit of $$$ over the years, i remember the first of only 2 times that i have shouted like a ****er at the TAB was when he got up to beat Apache Cat in about the last bound, was at the valley i think.

and the only other time i carried on like a halfwit was Divine Madonna's win in the emirates last year.

Anyone see Reigning to Win's victory at Eagle Farm today? Very handy run, came from last to swoop the field.. Would be aimed at the Cox Plate you would think?
