I'm hoping this came out because he was stressed and under fire from the questions. I reckon if you asked him honestly when he was calm he wouldn't say this. No one could possibly call the game solid, it was horrendus.

:D :D :D

Brilliant!!!

And he didn't get asked how Burton was, he went out of his way to mention him. So no Walker next week because we have The Birdman!!!

Drumm

Maybe not, IMO solid is a pass for a younger player however not good enough for a senior player

I thought burton was terrible today. that handball in the last quarter was a momentum changing, horrible turnover.

not to mention that, he basically did nothing else!

Burton did say two weeks ago that Craigy is quite cheeky and a funny man.

This just proves it, doesn't it? hahahaha:):D

He should be dropped specifically for the handball to Goodwin in the last quarter that basically broke the Crows back.

Solid, my bloody arse.

Burton Positives:
  • Didn't fly for speccy's every 30 seconds, thus getting in the way of Tippett and our other marking forwards.
  • His delivery to Porps in the 2nd quarter, when he could have had a ping himself if he'd been his usual selfish self.

Burton Negatives:
  • Didn't get a whole lot of it.
  • 2x Epic fails in the final term which both cost goals and destroyed the confidence we'd worked so hard to build in the first 3 quarters.

FFS Craigy get a clue... Burton was useless and has been all year. It's almost like the stubborn, old mule is keeping him in there just to prove a point to us fans. The only point your proving Neil is that you really are out of touch and have no idea and would rather play a 32 year old has-been over one of the best young forward talents this club has seen. Bravo Craigy, bravo, congratulations, you're really showing us:rolleyes:. "Burton was solid".... What utter crap, the worst thing is in the next couple of weeks Burton will probably have a game where he kicks 4 and that will be enough to keep him in for another 8 weeks of sub par performances:thumbsd:

Craig also said during the press conference no youngsters were being held back either.

Im sorry but what the hell is he on?! I couldn't believe when he said that. So freakin typical.
Guess Walker to replace Burton is out of the question then.

The problem with Burton is that he is no longer the player that is hard to match up on. He just goes now, nothing special. He could be a midfielder that could run all day and go forward and take a screamer.

The above used to make up for his brain farts, but they are still there and the positive attributes are not.

Look

lets not read too much into NC comments

last week Bomber Thompson said in his press conference that Ablett was servicable and I thought he was close to BOG

Bottom line is not too many coaches come out in the post match conference and are critical of players as they have little to no time to reflect on the game

Ill hold my judgement until next weeks selection

I , unlike some people around here, dont have the pre-conceived notion of wanting to hang Burton , but I still wouldn't of thought he was solid. He was almost OK, didnt quite do enough , some good , one bad... not enough to be hung out to dry on tho.

If you guys want to talk about crucifying someone for handballs, how about Bocky? His game was shocking! Handball to Westhoff in 1st(i think), poor ,and then when they got their run in last, fell over, rolled and tried some weird handball,Rodan kick to Cornes in square - that broke our back. Maybe he has missed too much footy this year.

Did VB even play?
There's quite a few guys to worry about before Burton , but I do understand that this thread is probably more about N Craig's comment of Burton, which probably seemed a bit defensive.

i don't expect Walker's return any time soon :( - unless Burton gets injured... or he absolutely tears up the SANFL week in week out.

****ing useless would be more apt.

Should've been axed 2 years ago, and has shown nothing since to indicate otherwise.

You knew he was going to **** up in the last quarter when he got the ball. Probably because that's generally what he does. Missing set shots, spoiling his own players, numerous turnovers etc.

Get rid.

How many times does it have to be said? Once in a generation talent running around in the SANFL, invest the time in him and we will reap the benefits. Be prepared to cop some flat performances, you don't stuff around with holding elite talent back like this!!

Burton out, Stevens out, Doughty out, one of these guys. They are clearly weak links now with all due respect to their past contributions.

Walker ? Oh no, not this again. Same people, same "solution mode".

If you bothered to listen hard to what the crows have actually said - it's been proven that Walker isn't tough enough and isn't quick enough... now for the kicker for those with attention deficit that couldn't listen between the lines past what the club said - not quick enough in the head for an AFL standard footballer (positioning and running off him and so forth).

If he brightens up, and I really really hope he does, then I'll be one of his biggest fans.

Did you hear the standard of crows "supporter"s call up 5aa ? They mostly sounded slow and sometimes slurred their words - like we had come to expect of Port supporters (like if asked they would have spelled "think" as "fink") - The one Port guy that I heard, came across as an intellectual giant compared to many of the crows people who phoned.

Now, for those who want to drop the seniors and play the youngies - who would play ? (and we'd get flogged off the park). This table probably won't work but here goes:

Player K H D M HO T FF FA G B SC
Chris Schmidt 7 9 16 4 0 5 0 0 0 0 0
Matthew Jaensch 8 3 11 7 0 5 0 1 0 0 0
Phil Davis 7 6 13 6 0 2 0 0 0 0 0
Jared Petrenko 6 5 11 5 0 2 1 0 0 0 0
Myke Cook 5 9 14 2 0 1 0 0 0 1 1

You basically also heard on the radio even McDemott say that a youngster side would get flogged and you don't develop them like that - you put them alongside seasoned players.

Plus NC said words which meant if you listened hard enough that the youngies aren't hardened AFL players and didn't contribute enough to win games against seasoned footballers. Check the stats - youngies are almost NEVER game breakers and in general will struggle to break even week after week.

Stevens can play both back and forward whilst Burton can only play up forward and Burton is now one dimensional. Burton no longer has leg speed that he had before he did his knee.
