Over inside of three days. Maybe I am looking for a scapegoat but Michael Clarke, it is time to go.
I cannot remember 1956 but this has all the hallmarks of the Old Trafford humiliation in 1956.
Piss poor effort - no more to be said.

Maybe worse. Like you I would not be aware of how poorly the Aussies batted in 1956 but a lot was made of how good Laker was. Remember that he took 19 wickets in the match while the other spinner, Tony Lock, bowled 69 overs in the match for 1 wicket. And although there were a lot of ducks and single figure scores Australia did not succumb to bad shots initially getting to 48 and 28 for the first wicket respectively. That series cost Ian Johnson his place.
The second innings will tell what kind of effort it was, in Old Trafford the first innings was over in 40.4 overs, 30 bowled by Laker and Lock. But it was 150.2 in the second with Laker and Lock bowling 106.2.
Dropping a captain during a series is not the way to go; he has had 11 innings since a 50 but both he and a lot of captains before him have had dry spells and then come back.
Plus trying to match one of the great Test spells of all time was always going to be mission impossible. It's not every day you see 8 for 15 - how about a bit of credit where it's due.More than one of the commentators was saying that Australia did not have the right spread of bowlers. That said, they had 3 pace bowlers and a spinner which is what England had. The lack of an all-rounder showed itself up a bit more in this test because of the very few runs to chase and that the English batsmen, apart from applying themselves, had a bit of luck at crucial times; eg Cook dropped and Bairstow french cut.

The question of matching the effort never came up, in fact LLoyd, Healy, Warne and Slater were at pains to point out that Australia shouldn't be trying that, they should just be hoping to limit the damage and maybe get back into it with a 100+ deficit and a good second innings.Plus trying to match one of the great Test spells of all time was always going to be mission impossible. Yeah I know - it's Broad: I don't like giving him any credit either![]()
Good joke but don't repeat it if you go to England, Cilla Black was one of their most-loved celebrities. Could use Roddy Piper, who made it to 61.Q: What's the difference between the Australia Cricket Team and Cilla Black?
A: Cilla managed to get to 72.
Two good half centuries last night... One from Joe Root and the other from Australia.
Could be the final day...Do we have to watch day 2?
