Chad Sayers won't be getting picked. The selection committee will be gutless and announce an unchanged line up after winning a dead rubber in Adelaide.
 
Yadav is a right-hand bowler in his 3rd test. His batting efforts in his first two tests were 27*, 35 and 55 for 117 runs at 58.5 so with his current score of 92* he has 209 runs at 104.5. His bowling also hasn't been too shabby; in four innings on Indian pitches generally unresponsive to pace he has 2/49, 2/21, 1/38 and 3/30. He has bowled 303 balls for 8/138 at an average of 17.25, an economy rate of 2.73 and a strike rate of 37.8. Very early in his career but an impressive start.

Don't think Kohli will declare this innings with Yadav on 92* like Bill Lawry did with Rod Marsh in 1971. In that match Lawry wanted a few overs at the English openers before stumps, although it didn't come to anything.

I consider myself an old codger whenever the state of cricket gets brought up.

I loved cricket for the tactics and story of the game. IMO T20 is a plastic sell-out format designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Although considering test cricket has become increasingly less popular, I'm obviously in the minority on that one.

No you are are not in the minority. The new forms of the game have unbalanced things. I know many like myself who have no interest in Big Bash, but also have had a disconnect from the test side and have lost interest in test cricket as well.

Watched a bit of Kholi bat today. He is an absolute star. Its a pity all those old farts took so long to retire and he debuted in Tests 2 or 3 years later than he should have after playing about 60 ODIs and having hit 6 centuries. But these stats say it all.





He is captaining his 21st test and his current record is 12 W 2 L and 6 D's.

I didn't watch the first game yesterday, and only about 5 overs of each innings in the 2nd, but as per last season's women's final, the bowling and fielding were absolute rubbish, and the batting wasn't a lot better. :thumbsdown:

maybe they dont have the skills of the men, but does anyone expect them to?
Womens cricket is great to watch and they have more skill in their little toe than you do in your whole body! these girls are highly skilled at what they do and it makes for fascinating viewing. You have to remember, most of the women playing in the WBBL arent full time cricketers, hence some mistakes will be made.

Also, maybe think that THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY ARE GETTING TELEVISED ON TV and that perceived pressure may not be something they are used to...

This is a patience game with the womens cricket, once more money goes into the teams and development of womens cricket, it will rival mens cricket

The thing is, he's only 28, so those already very impressive numbers will only get better before he pulls the pin. I have no doubt that Virat Kohli will be mentioned alongside Tendulkar as the greatest Indian batsman of all time.

why so skeptical? there are great strides being made in womens cricket in Australia and other countries.
it will surprise a lot of people on how big this sport will get in the future

I'm not saying that at all. Male OR female, if the temperature hits 42C, the sport needs to look after its athletes.

apologies for the misunderstanding, since we were talking about womens sport, i thought it was a safe assumption to make.

i do agree with you on that though. especially in high speed sports like AFL, if it does get above a certain temp, the risk is greater for heatstroke etc. (struggling to name other high speed sports that are played outside...)

The Australian Open tennis has been damn hot at times: I've heard of temperatures on centre court as high as 70C.

You are obviously a fan of women's cricket, but even the most avid fan would have to admit the standard of yesterday's games wasn't good, and as I pointed out, the standard of last season's final was also extremely poor.

Anyway let's both agree to differ, and hope the women's game goes onwards and upwards. :thumbsu:

the standard of the games were good i thought, some mistakes were made but that happens in cricket. no one can be perfect every game.
i think your standards of womens cricket are way above what they actually are. The standards of the games last season (especially later on) and early this comp have been good. obviously there is room for improvement, as some of these girls havent played together before or havent been with the others for long (due to internatial duty, other cricket).

My wife played Women's Cricket, including for SA, decades ago, though there were only a few teams then. Many more, and organised, now.

She was a medium fast bowler and way too scary for me.

Got 7/22 against men once, in the country in a low grade.

Wasn't allowed to play against men after that!
 
TheBeardAmigos clearly you're involved in some capacity with women's cricket.

Did you get any feedback when England's best player, Sarah Taylor, represented my old club at A Grade district level against men?

I can't remember if she actually batted or not ??

Having said that, the gap is that massive. I don't think it will ever take off apart from the T20 stuff pretty much piggy backing the men's comp.
