imho a fair decision. I think it was out so close, but the doubt in this case had to favour the batsman.
I think when the ball doesn’t bounce up it should count.
Like the one from Starc a few years ago when he clean caught it but the ball rubbed on the ground after a bit and was called not out.

Saw this story and the "tiser cartoon is perfect.
An expensive conga line of beer cups.

OUR SSSPECTACULAR 220-CUP BEERSNAKE

beer snake made an appearance at the Adelaide Oval Ashes Test’sopening day.The enormous stack of cups caught the eye of spectators on the hill, withits creators estimating about 200 cups had contributed to the creature’simpressive form.If you want to do the maths – and we did – with beer costing on average about $15 a cup, that would bring the total cost of the tower to a jawdropping $3000. Melburnians Mitch Limpens and Caleb Hewitt were two ofthe masterminds behind the snake, with the 22-year-olds arriving beforethe day’s first delivery to secure their spot beneath the scoreboard. The pair were two of 12 Aussies seen holding the snake, which was about5m long while chanting “You can’t stop the beer snake” to thunderousapplause.“It was a collective effort from the hill,” said Mr Limpens, who is visitingAdelaide for the first time.“One guy said (it was) 200 … maybe a bit more. It’s fun here … mostlyAussies – there’s a few strays here and there.”Beer snakes are banned in Victoria grounds, adding to the duo’senthusiasm for their creation. It is not the first time the snakes have left onlookers in awe at the Oval, with tradie Lachie Burtt interrupting play at last year’s Australia v IndiaTest match with his 250-cup-long monster. The electrician was caught inthe act by Aussie batter Marnus Labuschagne, with the moment going viralonline.

Snicko is REALLY weird this Test.

At least the Khawaja decision was given correctly not out - even if it was for the wrong reasons. I'm almost certain that the ball came off the gloves (before hitting the helmet), but it clearly bounced up into Khawaja's hands. It should have been given not out as a bump ball, regardless of what happened at the point where the ball passed the batsman.

Snicko spikes where the helmet are involved are usually short & sharp. The helmet is a hard object, so contact (and thus the sound of the impact) is usually short & clear. What we saw was a prolonged smudgy spike, which is typical of glove contact.

Nice to have an uncontroversial wicket decision for a change. Jacks absolutely smashed that one into his pads. Amazing keeping by Carey, standing up to the wicket with Bolland bowling at 136 kph.
100 plus5 catches in 1 innings must be rare air

Can someone explain to me why they abandon the bowling plan which has been working perfectly all day, as soon as Archer walks out to bat?

All day long they've been pitching the ball up on a good length, and they've reaped the rewards. Then, as soon as Archer appears, they throw that plan out the window and start bowling poorly disciplined short rubbish - with Archer quite fairly carting them as a result. They've done it all series, as soon as he arrives at the wicket.

Why? Why abandon the plan that has worked all day?

Archer is proving a pain in the behind again.
This is what happens when you abandon a bowling plan that has worked stunningly well, switching to bowling short garbage as soon as Archer arrives at the crease. By the time they actually decided to bowl properly again, both Stokes & Archer were well set.

Right now I'm operating on the assumption that CA instructed Cummins to ensure that the game went into a 4th day. They need the gate receipts, particularly given the magnitude of the financial disaster when the Perth Test finished inside 2 days. CA has 2 big cash cows - Ashes series and Border-Gavaskar series. They make big losses whenever any other country tours. They need the Ashes Tests to go the distance.

If Cummins has been given marching orders, then that may explain the stupidity that happened in the last 90 minutes of play yesterday (and the ongoing stupidity this morning).
