Adding on to Concussion Test's correction, a forward defensive shot (as long as the bat is not hiding behind the pad) is classified as playing a shot if hit on the pad outside the line of off stump so should not be given out.

Yet, you can't run a leg bye due to it not being classified as playing a shot.

I’d imagine not phonetically.

We owned a freight business in Alice Springs for a few years and there was one community that I’d never seen a parcel for but was always being spoken about, Umbludderwatch. Alice was the service centre for all postcode 0872, google the size of it. Anyway, I was always surprised that I was yet to deal with a piece of freight going to this place.

Anyways, missus takes a secondment to feds to be involved in a census for the tenant creek region. One day she’s telling me about where she’d been and Umbludderwatch comes up. I tell her that it’s weird that we never had any freight for that community and she said yes we did, we had plenty. Anyway, turns out that Ampilatwatja isn’t pronounced phonetically.

A few interesting comments on cricinfo.

Apparently Smith has just passed Hobbs, and is now the 2nd highest run scorer in Ashes history - behind only Bradman.

There's also an interesting discussion as to whether Smith or Head have been the best batsman of this Ashes series. Head has scored the most runs, and has 3x centuries, but he's also had more opportunities than Smith. Smith has the higher average for the series (currently 74.0 to Head's 66). Smith has only been dismissed 3 times, and he missed out on the best batting pitch (Adelaide). It's an interesting thought bubble.

Head easily, his runs won test matches

Lol, Head has comfortably been the best batsman this series. Not even a contest. He has won games off his own bat.

Head 600 @ 66, striking 88, 3 hundreds
Smith 232 @ 77, striking 61, no hundreds yet (edit 1 ton now).

1 is not like the other.

That was just how people get out in cricket sometimes. Ball held up slightly and he mistimed it. Wasn't a bad decision.
Yes it was!

But a bigger issue is his nervous starts, leading to plenty of low scores.
