I'm having so much fun I don't want to stop. My current obsession is dyes because fashion game is important and pets. I'm working on a couple kitties Hernand

I'm into chapter 4 after finally pushing the main story ahead a bit and I'm glad I did as the camp stuff is opening up and now I've got so much more to do.

I thought the chapter 3 boss was really cool. His design and dialogue were good, his actual fight kicked my arse the first time but that's because I didn't change my attitude from fighting the usual trash mobs. I've fought a couple bosses and they were certainly a step up from everything else (excavator boss bullied me for a while but I think I was under levelled without some important skills) but chapter 3 boss was a definite skill check in the sense that it's making sure you've actually learnt the combat to this point. The second time I read his moves so I knew which ones to parry and got through much easier. Still struggled on his second phase because I still haven't mastered timing the dodge and waste too much spirit so I couldn't dodge some of his ranged attacks. Before any boss fight make sure to absolutely load up on healing food. I went into his back story a bit more by going back to the location you start the quest to fight him and learnt some more of his backstory and I hope he is a character we learn more about later.

Some of the early voice acting and story was a bit average but since that particular boss I've noticed the quality in VA amongst the main characters and larger side quests and factions noticeably better. This might be when the game switched from MMO to single player development. Most of the minor side quests VA is still pretty wooden and phoned in though lol.

I get that you keep getting rewarded with inventory space but I'd still like a camp stash to store things. I read that this might be a future addition? I don't want to hoard loot, but with the amount of crafting I just want to do things like store some resources as well as a place to put faction uniforms and stuff. Most of the quest related things like notes can be sold after you finish the quest but I've got a few that must be bugged and are clogging up my inventory.

My only other gripe at the moment is I wish there were an option to toggle helmets on or off or at least disable them in cut scenes. Currently my Kliff looks like a Templar knight and his voice is muffled because the helmet stays on.

Next up is getting to chapter 5 because then as I understand it is basically the game is completely open in terms of camp and systems and stuff.

I cleaned the chimney last night after talking to the guy that fell off the roof and had the muffled voice but when I looked at Kliff after cleaning the chimney he had the face mask up on his helmet. I think there is a way to do it because I was screwing around in the equipment wheel but I'm not sure how?

You can put on and take off helmets manually via the equipment wheel (hold left on the d-pad then R1 to access armour rather than weapons) but I think dwwaino means just a quick option to toggle whatever you're wearing on/off, or just that setting a few games have to not render headware in cut scenes.

Most inventory or management things in this game take a few more clicks/button presses than they probably should lol

Yeah unless it's buried I can't find anything. I did a search and some people on Reddit were asking the same thing. The inventory UI could do with a little more refinement. After 20+ hours a lot of the UI decisions make sense that didn't earlier on but inventory still needs love. I got a stamp item as a reward for something and it seemed important. I had the option to "use" it so I did thinking it would tell me more about what it is. Well, I used it. The stamp was consumed and now I have no idea where it went or what it's purpose was lol. Unless it's like dyes that you "use" then can find them at dye merchants.

There are so many things this game doesn't tell you that you will work out as you go. Some of those are fun to discover, like using force push to launch yourself in the air like a double jump and blinding light can be used to stun mechanical bosses. Others I think aren't really explained and one that I keep seeing on Reddit and stuff so I'll say it here just in case anyone else has also missed it, in combat don't just press R1/RB/whatever to attack. HOLD it down to chain attacks. Then depending on the combos and abilities you've unlocked you press them as you attack to use them. Sometimes you have to quickly release R1 then repress with corresponding button to activate but this is how you get free flowing attacks.

What's also fun is now that it's in more players hands we're finding even more left field stuff. I saw a guy on Reddit pick up a raccoon then crouch with it under water. It eventually died and he could skin and loot it. Now I don't know if I should be concerned about that guy or impressed that sort of detail was included but we're going to keep finding out these things.

Lastly patch notes. Anyone playing already today know if the patch is live?

Main things I saw are there is now a private stash at camp, they've made the QTE for the arm wrestling more visible and nerfed the archery challenge a bit which I know lots of people in other communities were struggling with. There are heaps of other things like they've added more Abyss Nexuses and tuned heaps of things to do with food and resource collection. It also says they've nerfed the gauntlet leading to chapter 3 boss which I must say is welcomed.

Haha, this is awesome! I'm definitely trying that.

I feel like this is one game you just have to watch videos on to find out all the shit you can do, otherwise you'll probably miss it.

I was the same with the stamp, no idea what the **** happened with it and why it went.

Haha, thats insane.

Also just noticed the smoke from chimneys in towns and settlements cast shadows, never seen that before in an open world game 😍

On top of all the ground and wall textures that are using actual geometry rather than PBR normal maps, particle effects creating shadows and the insane view distances this game is built on some serious sorcery considering how well it runs.

I didn't read through all the patch notes (they were long!) but just noticed clouds roll in and it start raining. I remember reading that rain wasn't working properly on PC at launch and this is the first time I've seen it in nearly 30 hours.

Also can finally exit the game from the menu and don't have to go back to title screen first.

I was a little worried when the reviews came out I'll admit but I'm loving nearly everything about it so far.
Latest update fixed a few of the issues I had with it to.
Hanging out to get back into it tonight.

Ok maybe the patch over did it with the extra Abyss Nexuses? Lol

They added two, one either side of the Goldleaf Guild house! I liked hunting for them before as I travelled further away now they are everywhere.

I also didn't realise the outermost circles of each skill branch directly upgraded stamina, spirit and health 😑. Noticeable difference in crow glide thingy with even just two points into stamina.

The menu does my head in.

L1 and R1 to scroll the top options
L2 and R2 to scroll the bottom options

I find the map to be the most annoying thing to look at, always forget which button it is to change it and always just go to the sky map.

Taming Legendary Horses can go eat a dick! I tamed 2 of the 3 by respeccing and putting it all into stamina, but man, it's such a bitch! So frustrating. I'll leave the third for later when I naturally have more stamina. At least I can piss off Herpes now.

I'm going to try and learn a few skills from observing before respeccing back.

I......can......ride......cow?

Yippee Whippee!

I was running around somewhere west of Hernand and saw a bunch of cows and bulls. I ran over figuring I'd turn some of them into lunch then saw the prompt to mount. Didn't need to break them in or anything, just jump on and ride around. Then I thought what would happen if I go find a kid because I'm always looking for new ways to bully them.
