It seems to me that when a team's premiership window opens, it has reached a "critical mass" of sorts - an ideal team balance of class, experience and youth which leads to a lift in all. So that previously ordinary players "break out". Notable examples are Geelongs rise and also WC before them; look how well players like Rosa and Le Cras were in and around the team including Cousins, Kerr, Judd and Cox compared to how they have faired since.

Judging by the love-in for previously maligned players on this forum (see Cox, Cook, Reid, Toovey), I wonder whether the Pies are at this point - where the second tier are lifted by the groundswell around them.

Time will tell but I'm excited...

I think it's slightly different. Reid and Cox inparticular where always very talented players. We are not going to have the same kind of passanger effect. It is one of our great strengths that we have such depth and even spread of players who when required can play the pivotal role.

As for where we are premiership window wise. I'd say we are getting there. We now have the list in place which we hope will get it done. I still think there is a couple of years till that list is in the prime place. In 3 seasons time all of Brown (N) Ried Wood Dawes Anthony Beams Sidebottom McCarthy Clarke will be at a stage where statisitically they are in the "peak" of their career. Aswell as guys like Pendles and Daisy who will still be in theres. There is a fair bit of natural progession still to go in a number of our younger brigade especially considering so many of them are KPP players who take a bit longer to come on.

We should quickly whip the squad over to CERN and see that, if we hit em with enough particles, we can't split off a Hobbs?
It would be a major coup for AFL.

No seriously I think your analogy is pretty good. We are ceraqtinly building towards it, critical mass, when it will occur is the tricky bit.

We play wide enough, I dont think making them run around a 27km circle is necessarily going to straighten them up and use the corridor!

At this stage it's just not scientific, so forget CERN. It'll be all about spirit and sinew. That's no team for old men - they'll have to perne in a gyre.

LOL.
But a 27 km circle actually looks pretty strait in 200 meter increments...

Worthy of contacting the CERN for is if we can use their equipment that they capture electron transfer with to measure the deviation on John Anthony's set shots.
