Bit early to be talking about line-ups perhaps, but with the rumour that Clement may be out I think its a must to put Croad CHF against the Pies.

They'll be worrying enough who to put on Willo if Clement is really out, without having say Croad, Dixon, Roughead, Franklin and Crawford (half forward IMO) down there too.

So rather than worry about their forwards, they'll have to take notice of who we are putting down in our forward line.

Considering we have the edge in the midfield I think its best to go in with that approach.

Stack our forward line, even Everitt can rest down there as he's not quite 100% yet, and Cambell should go alright against their ruckman.

I know most think Croad plays his best footy at CHB, but I think Hawthorn play their best footy with him at CHF.

As Barker is out for another 2-3 weeks min. we need to leave Croady at CHF. Presents well and takes a key defender with him. The only problem is that who goes on the Pies big men? - Tarrant, Rocca, Fraser.

Hopefully we can smash the Pies this week, we are a better side, so I don't want to be disappointed like last year when we lost to that rabble.

Biggest concern is the actual ground.

Our recent record there is ******** lousy!

Woods were alright for three quarters against a quality side in Adelaide. We were alright (better than alright really) for three quarters against.. a far lesser side than Adelaide.

Both the Hawks and the Woods faded badly in the last q.

Fatigue I hope can play a part, they've got one less rest day than us AND it was a night game for them as well. Agree that we've got to give their defenders some worries rather than just concentrating/worrying about their forward line. If Clement misses, that's a big loss for them. Rocca is the concern just due to the sheer size of the bloke. But his form wasn't to flash (albeit against last years AA F/B) last week. Maybe he's still nqr in fitness/touch. Same with Tarrant though there are a few options for him at least.

Much more confident after Sundays win naturally. We showed we can play quick direct footy. Keep to the same structure of how we set-up as there doesn't seem any pressing need to change it. If things don't work out, well, that's what we've got a coach for. To make moves as required.

But I still wish it was being played anywhere but Coronial.

I'm not sure if Tarrant will even play, i was at the game and he looked in quite alot of pain when he came off even though it was only his finger. Their forwards didn't present all night so Adelaide flooded back and when they kicked it long Adelaide ran it out and more than often turned it into a shot on goal. Considering we are the flooding specialist i can't see the Pies kicking a winning score if their forwards don't lead up the ground and create space behind them.

Also if Clement doesn't play who takes Williams? He killed Presti for 3 quarters last year and that's when Clement went to him. And you saw what happened to Ben Johnson on Ricciuto last night. He can't take a quality player and stop them.

Hawks by 8 goals.

I dare say AC would love to throw him forward at some stage on the w/end, but i think their forward line and it's efficacy on the day may dictate this. Rocca, Tarrant, Fraser and possibly Buckley have the potential to severely stretch our somewhat vulnerable backline ATM, then again so did Freo's on Sunday and look what happened there.

I didn't think last week's planning was too specific in defense, bar Smith's assignment (beautifully executed) on whatsisname.

Croad was very, very effective in the "Barks" role, and drew a tall, quick defender. So I'd be trying that again.

Love the idea of a forward line consisting of Croad and Williams. Those two could really give Collingwood headaches. I feel Clarkson may be forced to flood again in defence to restrict the tall Collingwood forwards. While Hodge and Mitchell should give us the edge in the midfeild.

Saying all that I think it will be a very close game!

Will Buddy play? I think we missed him last week.

Who's spot will he take? Dicko's? ;)
Binxy, I wouldn't like to see any of the younger ones in last week's winning team omitted from the 22. They are part of our future. Dicko's use(d)-by-date is fast approaching and for the sake of the longer term, yes, I think it would be better judgment by the selectors to omit him for Buddy.

If buddy comes in i reckon it will be for Birch. To tell you the truth from last week i can't see that any of the smalls will get axed. No one really was beaten or was crap. Dicko was good across half forward last week and had really strong hands. Clement is out with a groin. Sewell on Davis, Osborne on Allan "Germ" Didak, Smith on Tarrant, Dawson on Rocca early. Guerra to play on Thomas and actually give the kid an opponent. Jacobs playing loose man. Campbell - Everitt vs Fraser - Richards in the ruck. The willow match up will be interesting. Obviously he would pull presti's pants down and you reckon by the look of the game last week against adelaide Ben Johnson will get the gig with Dane Swan or Jason "I missed the gf" Cloke in the loose man role. Dunno who presti will play on matbe Roughy with Wakelin on Croad.

Come to think of it if you look at the match ups we are pretty good chance to win. :thumbsu:

I think Dicko has to play.

There is plenty of time for young kids to develop, and we are playing our fair share anyhow. Having senior blokes out there and winning games is the best way for them to develop IMO, and I think Dicko needs to play if we are looking to get some wins of the board this season.

If Franklin comes in I think one of Lewis, Dawson, Young or Birchall needs to go out.

That still means we are playing Roughead, Franklin, and one of the three menioted above, so its not like we aren't fielding a young side already.
