Whats the deal with them? Are they people pulling a hoax or what?

I just find it hard to believe people could create some of the crop circles, they are so well defined. It would be very difficult to know how well you are creating a crop circle and getting it done with out anyone noticing. There was some show on it last night about some guys that did one as hoax and it took them 14 years .

Then at the same time I doubt aliens(if they even exist) are coming down making these things for art awards.

Does anyone have any logical reasoning?

Why? Have you never seen any other piece of art that has made you think "Wow, how the hell did they do that?"

There are some very talented people taking a lot of people for a ride.

-How long would it take?
-How many people would u need to assist?
-How do you do it without being caught?
-What do you use to make the crop circles?
-Why would you do it if people won't know how you are?
-How would you know how well it's going without a birds eye view?
-How could you see in the dark (I presume it's done at night)
-Why you would do it as a hoax?

My only explanation is artists pay farmers/who ever owns the land to do crop circles and the land owners pretend it's aliens or something to get publicity.

That's the best I got

Why don't you pretend to be one, you might be able to get a job on a farm

I don't know the answer to any of these. Replace 'make crop circles' with 'make a microwave' and I'm just as clueless. If I suggested however, that microwaves were gifts from alien visitors I'd be laughed at.

-Why would you do it if people won't know how you are?

Why tag bus stops?
Why troll big footy?

Perhaps they are trying to make a crop circle and not get caught just to see if they can.

-How would you know how well it's going without a birds eye view?

You don't need to. To use a simple example, say you wanted to draw a square 20mx20m. Well you start at one point and make your line for 20m. Then you make a turn of 90 degrees and go 20m again. Turn 90 degrees again and another 20m. One more turn of 90 degrees and 20m and you've made a square.

If you plan out any design before hand then you're just scaling it up.

These days it would be even easier with a good GPS.

-How could you see in the dark (I presume it's done at night)

Again you wouldn't really need to if you've done your planning. That said some small torches aren't going to be seen anyway and that'd give you ample light.

My only explanation is artists pay farmers/who ever owns the land to do crop circles and the land owners pretend it's aliens or something to get publicity.

I'm sure that happens but I'm sure a lot do it without the land owners permission also.

mmmmm you make it sound a lot easier than it potentially could be.

-It would be a massive task to plan this out. I'm not sure you could plan something like this anonymously.
-Remember that crop circles started a long time ago and it would be a lot harder to do designs without the technology's available today.

I'm guessing you couldn't make the crop circles without some form of machinery and this machinery would make noise or leave evidence of usage.

-How long would it take?
basically overnight before sunrise
-How many people would u need to assist?
a few
-How do you do it without being caught?
in the dark through the night
-What do you use to make the crop circles?
special tools
-Why would you do it if people won't know how you are?
-How would you know how well it's going without a birds eye view?
they had to get it exactly right even a mm off would of stuff the whole thing up and they used a helicopter the next morning
-How could you see in the dark (I presume it's done at night)
-Why you would do it as a hoax?
so they get to be on t.v?

answers in bold from the ch7 doco..

I remember these two blokes in England saying they used a plank of wood on a rope to create them. Only problem was that most crop circles leave flattened but unbroken crops, their method of stamping broke most of the stalks.

I have seen a video of one being formed though. It just appeared organically. No UFO's or anything, just instantly it was there. The explanation was magnetic interference that naturally occurs in the ground.

If it was a hoax, it fooled a whole mess of people and no-one has ever claimed responsibility.

Oh dear...

The people who invented the crop circle phenomenon were a couple of blokes in England. Yes, they used ropes and boards.

The media latched onto it, and people started doing it elsewhere.

When they confessed, they had so fooled people that the believers refused to accept the confession was real. All sorts of things were said. All sorts of theories flourished about misinformation and conspiracies.

It was a couple of blokes who dedicated a lot of time to pull off a hoax with simple tools.

This "broken stalks" argument is not supported.

One might wonder which extraterrestrials have an axe to grind regarding grain prices:

I have never seen or heard of some sort of "spontaneous" crop circles appearing in front of somebody's eyes.

They said it took them 14 years to do??

Didn't they say it took them 14 years to plan/do?
