I agree, I mean I expect them to beat GC they are the flakiest side ever to come fourth (lets be real they will flog Port and Essendon). Pies don't have the form to go out there and win by 80 against Melb to put pressure on them. However after the GC and lets for arguments sake assume the games go according to the seeds (they won't but lets assume okay). Are they beating Geelong or Brisbane in a prelim final without Rankine? Doubt it. It's weird saying the Crows season depends on this decision but it might be

Their low finish on the ladder coincided with him being out a lot of the season. He only played 15 games last year. So you are spot on.

I am expecting Brisbane to well and truely get it done this week. Said it all year their best is still the best in the comp and they play the G nearly better than any other side.

Seperate to this, reported online so perhaps the right spot this ‘rumour’, but Adelaide fans were accused of homophobic slurs to Moore and Elliott throughout the night.

I can tell you now, although certain fans might get a bad rap for booing etc, I haven’t heard this crap at the MCG. You’d be removed from the ground.

I've seen and heard plenty of it at the G. Directed at players and other fans. Its pot luck when you report to security and the anti social hotline. Some have been dealt with fairly and well, some get away with it if the people around are too cowardly or scared to back up the victims or people calling out the shite behaviour. Sometimes it takes a couple of reports, meanwhile absolute flogs mouth off and continue to provoke in quieter, sneakier ways. It definitely isn't just an Adelaide issue.

It simply doesn't make sense that the penalty for a crude word is almost the same as full-fledged assault off the ball. Gaff got what, 7? Weeks for his hit on brayshaw, how can you argue 6+ for (albeit harmful) words?

Yeah I get it with how the world is now, but when you have players threatening to gang-bash opposition players recieving no penalty, I fail to understand how this can attract such an enormous ban.

Personally I think it is strange that we are suspending players for using words. By all means, they should be called out on it and put into some sort of re-education but don’t think suspending is the answer. Especially in a time when you can punch someone in the back / gut but not get suspended because it didn’t warrant enough force.

AFL need to get on the front foot and publish a list of insults that players (and fans) can use to ensure this won't happen again

I'd personally give him 5 weeks, rule him out for the year, it's a big punishment. However if it's 4, wouldn't the Crows be better losing the qualifying and they potentially get Rankine for a GF

EV would still be marginally lower you'd think given the away PF and then having to travel again for the GF. That's without factoring in the momentum/bad juju of intentionally trying to lose a final.
