The timing reminds me of the Willie Gatorade saga in 2019. It didn't ruin our chances of going back to back but it didn't help them. In this case, however, if Rankine gets rubbed out it will definitely be a blow to their chances. I don't believe it kills their flag hopes, as Crows doomsayers are saying, like we lost 3 of our key players before the 2018 finals series, but it would probably push their flag odds from $4 and equal with Geelong to maybe $6 and equal with Brisbane.

I don't condone homophobic slurs, and now the precedent has been set, he will unfortunately have to wear it. But would've been nice of Barry Hall was rubbed out of the 2005 finals as he should have been...

If true Rankine is gone, there has already been incidents this year, the AFL can't be soft on this or they will get bombarded with everyone journo's/media/ and clubs that have had players punished for the same things.

This is beyond stupid from the alleged Crows player. You can't say you didn't know.

We all know what should happen here if it's proven to be true - at least six weeks suspended. That would mean he misses the entire finals series and potentially a round or two next year. Talk about finding a way to derail a season.

Rankine is one of my favourite players to watch, it would be disappointing if he is suspended for the finals.

Going by recent similar cases he probably should be but the AFL often aren't consistent when it comes to suspensions.
