Would anyone on here care to comment on both the preliminary final and the GF in terms of noise. I was lucky enough to attand the prelim final and thought the crowd was mental but work required me back home.

Any comparisons welcome:sunglasses:

I agree with Bojangles17
Prelim was off the hook! The roar for each goal in the GF was amazing, but the Prelim will never be matched again.
There was a fair amount of frustration released that night.

You'll never ever see/hear another crowd like the Prelim as long as the AFL exists. The combination of a big Melbourne club vs a new franchise is repeatable to perhaps replicate the attendance figure, but you'll never have a lifetime of emotional torture exorcised like it was that night to go with the attendance number.

The GF atmosphere was amazing in its own right, much less "corporate" than a lot of people will try to lead you to believe. But it's not Kane Lambert kicking the first goal of the prelim in 15 seconds kind of loud or Dusty's sharp turn into a right foot banana to seal it at the start of the last quarter of the Prelim kind of loud.

Fronted up to work on Tuesday still without my voice:blush:

yep Maroo's spot on with the call. First granny for me and I was really impressed with how much like a 'proper' game it felt, a really good split in crowd support, lots of Adelaide fans making up a pretty fair chunk, and good & noisy.

But yeah that run of QF to PF for noise, tension, release... heck that was something. I was fortunate enough to get to all three finals this year, I reckon its one of the highlights of my time so far on this rock! Bloody epic, biblical, Shakespearean... so Richmondy!!

Against the cats when we started breaking the game open was pretty huge too,

Great home game.

When Martin came off the first time in the 4th of the prelim, the roof was blown right off.

Well said , and I reckon it's this kinda game that will lift our avg crowds in 2018 by another 10% , why coz I reckon there were lots of tiger fans there that had been **** all in recent times and would have left thinking gee that was a bit of alright , I wanna bit more of that

I've been to all the finals in the last 5 years.

vs Carlton: When we ran out onto the ground and up until the first bounce, this was the most amazing sound I think I've ever heard. Maric's goal, very close behind.
vs Port Adelaide: The game was over pretty quick, so the atmosphere wasn't great. Still had a nice amount of noise and buzz, but didn't feel the Adelaide Oval hype myself.
vs North Melbourne: Was good, but nothing amazing. Didn't really feel like 95k.
vs Geelong: Pretty incredible when we got on a roll especially. Nice to be under lights, but the day games have had better atmospheres.
vs GWS: Unlikely to ever be able to emulate. The most complete sound from start to finish I would say. The foundations were rocking when the song was being sung.
vs Adelaide: A lot less corporate than I imagined and actually exceeded my expectation in terms of atmosphere. Was good to have the Crows supporters too, they like to make noise in Melbourne (unlike Geelong, North). The last half was amazing. Truly unforgettable, hearing the song being sung at different times in different bays, you heard 'Yellow and Black' every 20 seconds. Felt like the Tiger supporters really acknowledged every minute detail from a slight touch out of bounce or any break in play was massive.

Hard to say which was the best. Each game has it's own little significance, with the Carlton first final in a long time (easily the best build up to the ball being bounced), GWS and actually knowing that a Grand Final was the next step, and the raw emotion of the Adelaide game where you'd high five and hug complete strangers, but they felt like your family.

100% worth the $500+ dollars to attend all 3 finals. I was up the Richmond cheer squad end for the prelim and the Adelaide cheer squad end for the GF and prob because of the proximity to their cheer squad they almost seemed louder at times until we shut them up in the second half. The prelim was amazing in terms of crowd but for me nothing will ever top the raw emotion when it started to dawn on people in the GF that we were going to ****ing win, grown men in tears, randoms high fiving and hugging each other and the song.

Prelim for sure. Crowds could swell next year. The opener against Carlton could get 90k. Everyone will want to play us. Collingwood and Essendon games could also crack 90k. Cats game at the G could nudge 80k after that final. Demons game will probably get 80k again. Hope we get the Eagles opener at Burswood. Crows rematch at the G can get 70k and Swans at the G 60k again. Can we please play North at the G too please

Prelim for me but was still impressed with the GF. People say too many corporates at the G I was pleasantly surprised with the support and Richmond colours around the stadium.
Crows were well represented though , certainly put the cats to shame , no doubt

agree with the GF crowd. My first GF and the way people talk about all the corporates I expected a subdued crowd. Both tigers and crows fans were very vocal

Went to QF, PF and Granny. I have to agree with some other posters on here, QF crowd was my favourite. It was like we were united in our passion and pain that night. When you watch it back, you would almost believe we had pre-scripted some of our reactions, such was the unity. The prelim was unbelievable, and the GF for what happened is the most special of course. Go the Tigers. Premiers '17:pointup:

I didn't get to the Gf but was there for the prelim and I was there when big Ivy kicked us within 10 points against carlton.
I saw guns and roses at Calder park.
The song at the end of the game was the loudest I've heard but I've never felt or heard anything like the energy and atmosphere at the bounce for the last quarter against GWS that was a once in a lifetime roar it was incredible and sounded like the crowd was ready to eat em alive and I think it rattled em

Prelim easily the loudest. After those goals at the end of the 3rd, with the players walking back to their spots for the bounce was just defining noise.
Qualifying and Grand final were probably pretty similar.
the cotchin goal in the qualifying and dusty coming off in the same game for mine, been watching em for a long time and they were the standouts for a roar
