Balme had legitimately been approached and was considering our offer. Not ours or his fault some dimwit employee leaked to the media. It's the fault only of the dimwit in question.
Regardless, the shit was still hung on the Club.

Well, there's been no reports of any sackings. You can count on one hand who should have known about that. If we don't hold the leaker to account then we deserve what we get.
You know, it may not have been leaked at all. But of course, you assume the worst of the Club at every opportunity.

Not leaked at all? I’d like that theory explained.

So how did it find its way to the media? Are you suggesting we deliberately told the media about confidential discussions with Balme? Was it strategy?

And it's not the club, it's a moronic employee I'm having a go at. You're assertion is that the club did it deliberately. That's a lot worse than mine.

By us. Or, journo just making sh*t up?
Yep I’m sure out of all the people that work in the AFL they guessed that the correct person was going to the correct club.
What are the odds?
Someone clearly leaked, it’s not even debatable.

Could it not possibly have been someone from Balme’s camp?

Think we have to request the AFL that we have to hold the first Showdown in 2022.

We haven’t held the first Showdown since 2016.

we do that and we probably end up with both showdowns as away games

I've always wondered what difference it makes. I doubt we'll see a shortened season again, so first or 2nd, I don't get why it matters.
Money?
More chance to get a higher crowd when the season is new and hopes are still high for both teams?
I wonder what the average first showdown crowd is vs the 2nd
