Glenelg have the bye. I cannot see Gibson or Griffo in the ressies...so at this point there are no Crows players in the SANFL ressies this week.

Centrals V Eagles on ABC TV

Nye is only named on an extended bench at the moment but with Roe out and Coulter in doubt he will probably get a game in a weakened defensive unit which will give him a great opportunity to step up and show what he is capable of.

I noticed Johnny Paynter son is Captain for Sturt under 17's and Mike Aishs boy is playing ressies for Norwood. I'm pretty sure they are also eligible under the father/son ruling - can anyone confirm???

I think another strong performance from Ladhams and i have a feeling we may see him pushing strongly for selection. Despite the side doing so well, i think the coaching staff will want to have another look at him to see whether or not he is worth keeping for next year and beyond.

Yep both Seb Paynter and Aish are eligible for the crows under the father son rule. Paynter has been in sturts under 17s best players quite often this year and Aish has only played a couple of games for Norwood this year, one in the under 19s and one in the reserves.

Cheers. How old is Aish's boy??

Im not completely sure but ive heard somewhere he could be 19. Apparently he has a similar build to his father but he is taller. He has played a bit of junior footy in the ruck and played a reserves game this year for Norwood at full forward.

I read in this weeks Eastern Courier an article on Len Fitzgerald's, 2 grandson's playing Under 17s for Sturt. Not sure how we would go in the Father/Son ruling but with the bloodline, chances are they could play a bit of footy. The 2 boys come from Port Lincoln and Sturt paid a transfer to have them play for Double Blues, as they were aligned to Port Adelaide. Hopefully the AFC might work on something to allow them to draft these 2 kids.
Wishful thinking on my behalf! LOL

Didn't someone say on this board a few weeks ago they were playing against him in high school footy? Can't imagine he's 19. I think he plays at one of the private schools -

Yeah that was me and he had to later pull out of the game due to obligations to Norwood reserves.

He's doing Year 12 over 2 years making him 19 or turning 19 this year :)

The form of our 1st round draft pick in Meeson is a bit of a worry. It's also disappointing none of our rookies have steped up to play regular senior footy. Powers Pearce was best on ground yesterday. It was a terrible decision by the AFC not to delist one of Begley or Stevens and pick a youngster in the PS draft.

I think we can chill about Griffen and Meeson for a year or two. Height takes time. Relax - enjoy being second.

Rookies are always going to be hit and miss - though Hinge has been a disappointment. That being said - we kept a few players for depth, when investing in a one or two of those that ended up being rookies - Pearce, Sharp, Heath Grundy, Kirkby, etc - might have been wise.

Can anyone give a report on how Bock and Watts went for WWT?

Was Meesen disappointing for Norwood?

What was Marics game like for Port?

Bock was OK, played CHF and CHB. Took some goods marks, I thought he was going to go off injured in the first few minutes but ran out the whole game.

Meesan has been playing off the bench because tim Nicholls for Norwood has been in good form.

Port play North today, I listed to 5RPH on the ride home after the AFL game. caught the half time report. Port were down, but they were talking up Meesan. Johncock hasnt had too many touches but looked alright when he did get it.

Don't you mean Maric?

Johncock was absolute rubbish today. I was nervous about him playing against us, but he really was useless. Maric seemed to do ok, but our number 1 ruckman is a lot smaller and more than held his own. Gutsy win over the Port ferals at Alberton, i am absolutely stoked!
Stevens was also ********house

I've been to every Redlegs game this year and seen quite a lot of Meesan. It is clear to see that he has quite a lot of potential. His strengths appear to be that he has a good footy brain, he always battles on, is a good tackler and he isn't a bad mark. However, his ruckwork, especially at centre bounces, has been appalling. Norwood are forced to play Tim Nicholas basically the entire game because when Meesan is on, we just can't win any clearances. His kicking is quite average, he struggles to kick the Burley more than 40 odd metres. His shot for goal is extremely suspect.

I think he's kicked 7 goals (converison rate is probably 35%) from 9 league matches. Spends about 50% of the time at FF, about 25% in the Ruck, and what's left on the bench. He will take quite some time to develop into our leading ruckman.

Ladhams was great, Maric was great in the ruck but pretty ineffective around the ground (except for one exceptional tackle and goal in the forward pocket), Stevens had his worst game of the year, Johncock was very rusty and failed to get into the play.

Why is he ineffective around the ground Macca ? Do you mean in marking contests or general around the ground ruck work ?

when i got to the north port game johnny was playing forward and looked not unlike guy sebastian with his big fro. Playing him up forward clearly wasn't working, he was copping a fair bit of sh*t from the magpie supporters. Maric looked good, the fact that North's best ruckman Wakelin was out definitely helped him. Ladhams played well and was lucky not to get lynched on the way off the ground, he was talking it up to the crowd a fair bit.

A perfect weekend of footy for me, the roosters and crows got up and both ports lost.

Nye didn't make the final side for North yesterday but played well in the reserves. He keeps putting his hand up for selection and can't be too far off a recall.

In the league Maric dominated the hitouts against a young 3 game 86kg rookie ruckman and a forward used as backup ruckman. Didn't do alot around the ground and was tried in various positions including FF where he kicked a goal.

Johncock looked like a bloke that hadn't played in a while. Didn't see a lot of the ball, fumbled, looked slow and had no presence on the field. Importantly for the Crows he played a lot of minutes and seemed to get through well. He would have blown out a few cobwebs with the run.

Stevens had a very quiet day was used forward, where he couldn't get into the game kicking just 1 goal, and was tried back on Damon White who was dominant on 4-5 opponents with 15 marks.

Ladhams played through the middle and had another good game. Picked up 21 kicks 6 marks 5 handballs, and laid 3 tackles. His form in the past 2 weeks has been very good and he has had a big influenece on these matches.
