Is it true that the Adelaide vs West Coast match will not be shown on free to air TV at all?

How can 1 week it be live when it's played at home yet not shown when it's away?

Someone better have a good explanation.

Just face the facts that noone wants to watch the Crows :D ;)

Nah its a pi$$poor decision by Foxtel (note...this is not the AFLs doing).

Theres an article in todays paper that basically says that Foxtel have exclusive rights to that match and will show it live on Fox Footy....and that they are unwilling to hand it over to Channel 9 unless Channel 9 covers half the costs in getting to Darwin.

The article also says that Wayne Jackson is likely to intervene and tell Fox to hand it over to 9. Im sure by the end of the week the game will be on free to air.

As much as I would love it to be true, I doubt AFL will get the game on free to air TV by friday night. Looks like we have to find a pub with fox footy coverage or listen to 5aa's coverage.

The reason the game is being covered by Foxtel is because neither 9 nor 10 chose to broadcast it. They have first pick of all the games, and chose others ahead of this one.

Foxtel is quite happy for 9 to broadcast the game after they've finished showing it live, if they can help pay some of the costs of going to Darwin.

Sounds fair enough to me.

I don't blame Foxtel for not allowing the Crows V West Coast on free-to-air unless they get some recompense.

There are 15 matches in the Wizard Cup.

Channels 9 and 10 got the first ten choices and Foxtel was left with matches in Sydney, Perth, York Park, Cairns and Darwin with no share of the semifinals or final, except in replay after the matches had been played.

Channels 9 and 10 basically only choose matches involving Melbourne-based teams because that's where their biggest viewing, and hence revenue, market is. During the minor round those 2 channels will hardly move out of Melbourne and leave all the interstate coverage to Foxtel, except if Collingwood or Essendon is playing interstate

Cheers,

Whilst not wanting to stir up our Vic mates, it wouldn't have anything to do with both sides being non-Victorian and the two main networks couldn't give a rats toss bag.

By the way, possible and likely GF in the Harry Potters Cup - Adelaide vs Brisbane?

Funnily enough we got last Saturday Nights game live here in Melbourne. Don't know how it rated admittedly but you'll find a LOT of people here watch the footy on the TV no matter who is playing.

Agree with you there mate. I mean, of course, we'd all like to see it (even if it wasn't live) but C9 and 10 had their choices and unfortunately us non-Foxtel-SA-Crows fans lose out. I guess that's the way it has to be.
