Mark Robinson from the Herald Sun thinks Sloane deserves a nomination for his effort against Geelong. I think it will be between him and Essendon's Travis Colyer. I get the feeling Colyer will get it unfortunately.

Hopefully the fact that Sloane played in the team that knocked off the #1 team in the competition instead of playing for a team that got beaten by the worst in the comp will be in his favor.

I think Sloane's 2 goals at important times will hopefully get him the nod, they were both pressure kicks and 6 Contested Possessions were handy.

If Colyer gets it, it makes the award more of a joke than it currently is. Played in a side that got thumped by the worst team in the competition, while Sloane played a key part in his team's victory over the best, it is like chalk and cheese.

It's going to be close between Rory and Colyer. As you can see, they have similar figures, with Colyer's averages a little higher in the important disposals area. But Rory has played 9 games to Colyer's 6, so his totals are better. On balance, that plus his 2 goals in a crunch match will give it to Rory. I hope so, anyway. :thumbsu:

* That hitout must have been that 3rd man up in the last quarter, Friday. How awesome was that leap and hit! :D

EDIT: Adams of the Roos is 22 - not eligible.

Contested Possessions comparison?

Would've through Sloaney would be ahead there. Not having seen Colyer play though.

Colyer had 9 cont. poss to Rory's 6 this week. Still placing my hopes for Rory on his slightly more good games and 2 crunch goals.

Mind you, Colyer plays for a Vic team. But then, Rory is known to the Vics - he Captained one of their U18 sides a few years back.

watched the bombers match... id say sloane would have the stat won easily

apparently not... :D

Yeah. The downer is that Colyer had 27 total disposals (highest for the Bombers) to Sloaney's 12 this week. Just have to hope that quality means more than quantity. :D

I'll be pissed if Sloane doesn't get the nom  Although Colyer was one of the Dons best (not many were 'good'), the Dons lost. Sloane's two goals particularly the match winner at the end in addition to a number of solid contested possessions should earn him the nod.

Looking at the DT and Supercoach scores seems Rory may have been performing slightly better.

I know next to nothing about how Supercoach works but I've heard the 'better' players who might get less stats (so not great at DT) do get higher scores in Supercoach. If that's correct it would further reinforce his overall impact.

Goals contributed - 1.0. Thats very very good.

Why isn't Martin on that list? Is he too old for the rising star award?

Yeah - too old. Otherwise he would have been a good chance for his game on the weekend.

Wonder if Jaensch or Sloane will get the nod this week. Not sure if there were any standouts in the other games though. Morabito maybe. Is Jared Grant eligible or is he too old?

Grant already has a nomination this year. If Ellard doesn't get it, one of our boys should.

Greenwood played 11 games last year, so no nomination for him.
:( that's unfortunate to miss by 1 game. i have no idea who will win it then. Shuey played well, but in a losing side. Daniel Stewart is also too old. Jaensch was solid, but no standout. Ellard was alright.
