Adelaide has beaten its own AFL record of most ticketed members.
The Crows, who became the only club in AFL history to pass 50,000 members in 2006, reached 50,145 on Thursday.
General Manager of Commercial Operations Phil Harper said “members are the backbone of every club”.
“The strength and power of our football club stems from its membership base,” Harper said. “To again pass 50,000 members and beyond is testament to the unrivalled loyalty and support that our team gets from its members. We say it over and over again, but we really do have the best members in the AFL.
“Further increasing our membership base again ensures that the Adelaide Football Club remains one of the strongest clubs in the competition. Our members cannot be thanked enough for their ongoing support.”
Last year Adelaide’s membership closed at 50,138. The club has passed this number in 2007 just days after round 1 and more members are expected to sign up. Adelaide is continuing its successful “Crows in Schools” program throughout the school year and continues to bring in Crows Nest junior members at record levels.
“The ‘Crows in Schools’ program is expected to reach more than 200 schools this year – it brings an educational message to schools, is effective in promoting our club and the popular Crows Nest membership package,” Harper said.
Harper said Adelaide’s members had been embracing the club’s level of service.
“In the last couple of years, with the support of Neil (Craig) and the playing group, we have been making even more concerted efforts to make our members feel apart of their club,” he said. “We think that this, coupled with strong on-field performances, has ensured that our renewal rates remained steady at 98% and has turned more latent supporters into members of the Crows.”
