"Fantasia and/or the Crows will face the serious charge of tampering with the AFL draft process. This could lead to Adelaide being stripped of picks in next month's national draft or a hefty fine."

No way in the world would the AFL do this....I hope.

Dont worry if this happens you'll get sympathy from us, we know the hurt. On the other hand the comment was directed at us so youll receive no sympathy...:p

I don't think we'll lose picks, but Fanta Pants Fantasia should just shut up about Gibbs seriously, its time he moved on if Gibbs wants to come home after 2 years then he will come home, there is no need for the crap being spluttered by Fantasia.

It's just Rucci rubbish more than likely.
Not when there's a direct quote in the article
AFL football operations chief Adrian Anderson last night said of the interview: "We are concerned (with Fantasia's remarks).

"We have written to the Adelaide Football Club asking them to explain."
A fine might be in order (although I would disagree with even that), removal of draft picks would be completely out of proportion and would likely provoke legal action from the club (and other clubs would probably be supportive of that, they could be next). I don't think the AFL would be silly enough to go that far.

They did with us! Fair enough take round 1 an 2 or what ever for two years running no worries, but we should of been allowed to keep the 2002 Priority pick as we "earned" that for finishing last. It had nothing to do in reflection of history and that was a cheap blow by the AFL... taking picks and acting silly isn't an uncommon practice by the AFL!

as I have said in other posts

AFC should tell the AFL to get stuffed, If they try any other bull**** draft tampering tell them to where to shove it

time to play hardball with the AFL

we help them make a ****load of cash - as they have shown with other clubs who do this they are not prepared to act if your a income generator like the Crows are.

(please don't talk about Carlton)

More Rucci beat-up.

Fantasia just said we will do all in our power to get Gibbs home in two years. No problem there.

Anderson and the AFL can go and get ****ed.

What is wrong with saying that you rate a certain player and that you want him to play for you in the future?

I'd have preferred Fantasia not to have said what he did, but it should not even be an issue.

I still think we should have pushed harder for the father/son rules to be changed.

Imagine how truly ****house Geelong would be without Scarlett, Ablett x 2, and now Hawkins.

I was referring to the loss of picks.
Its called Court Action

AFL threaten picks - Crows threatedn legal action - if the AFL wants to play tough AFC needs to stand up - I am sick of seeing our club get bullied around over trivial stuff like comments in a newspaper

I'm sorry, you lost draft picks for comments your recruiting manager made about future trade targets?

funny thing is Angry Anderson at AFL jumping castle would look at your quote and suggest, "What's wrong with that?"

I am curious, a legal action based on what?

Under collective bargaining laws the players have signed away their rights in exchange for generous working conditions and remuneration. Clubs know the rules in terms of what they can and can't do and courts are hesitant to overturn any sports administration ruling unless they feel it violates the rules they have in place.

I think the Crows would get a slap on the wrist and be warned not to interfere with the draft process or make any attempts to entice him to the Crows while he is contracted (to Carlton I assume) or face a harsh penalty.

As I said previously when he made those comments, it was foolish to say anything at all. Should have just said they will look at trading for him if and when he becomes available.

And that's exactly what Fantasia will say he meant with his comments. He will acknowledge that he could have done it better, get a slap on the wrist, and we'll all move on.

Nothing to see here folks.

If we're honest I think we'd all admit the AFL should have a good look at this. The comments are a bit iffy. It's nothing major, and if found guilty the worst that will happen is a fine, which is hardly the end of the world for a club such as ours.

The comments shouldn't have been made. All it does it set us up for a fall if it never happens. I mean, do we need to tell everyone two years in advance what our intentions are? Keep it between ourselves and the Gibbs family. No need to broadcast it to the entire country.

I don't think there was a lot of thought in those comments before James Fantasia made them. The only result i can see from them is he scares a couple of clubs and that Gibb's lad slips down to port's pick. No possible benefit for us. So i wouldn't be entirely against a fine for stupidity.

For a club official to come out and threaten other clubs away from drafting a youngster ...is beyond the pale ..the bloke is either a moron or a scumbag .
I'm afraid he spoke on behalf of the Crows so the AFL must take action to nip this kind of crap in the bud .
I'd expect a fine of some sort

MD end this person time on our board now and send him on his way.

go away clown.

End of the day we don't rote the salary cap and cheat, unlike some clubs.

Once a cheat, always a cheat.

I assume you are talking about James Fantasia - who is neither a moron nor a scumbag.

I'm sure the AFL will take appropriate action - which will amount to no more than a please explain letter.

:)

I think a fine would be unwarranted at this stage....;)
