Tex just isn't a "dominant forward" anymore. Our forward line is too versatile. You'd say that Walker and Jenkins were "down" yesterday yet still contributed to a lot of our scores. I'm not concerned about Tex.

Completely agree. He doesn't need to play the role of the sole target up forward.

I often keep an eye out for him, and see that he has recently been pushing up the ground, presenting a marking option in the middle of the ground/HF area, where he won't kick goals, but takes those contested grabs that allows us to push inside 50. Invaluable grabs those.

And he can do that, because he has 5 other players in the team that can consistently kick goals. He is playing a smart role, and doing it well. I don't see an issue.

Exactly. I think some people need to have a closer look at the games and actually get a feel for what he is still contributing - smart blocks, shepherds, presenting up the ground, he would be taking the best defender, and other opposition players nearby would be conscious of what he is doing, even if opposition coaches thought he was injured do you really think they would take that chance by putting a lesser opponent on him? All this allows our other forwards to get into the game and spread the load, we are one of the top scoring teams for a reason.

Whilst I would love to see Tex rip a game apart or dominate each week with 4-5+ goals, the fact is we have a fully functioning forward line that doesnt require it. Have a look at Melbourne - Hogan kicked 7 and they lost. I think I know what result I would prefer!

This is what I was looking at - AFL Ranking Points... whatever they are

Jenkins BOG for us for his 11 possession, 4 mark, 5 hit out game.
What I was looking at is different!
On the AFL game day site they have Full Time Stats. The last column is called "AF" points. This is where JJ was ranked low.

Tex is still contributing, but he really doesn't look to be moving all that freely to me. He's generally quite athletic for a forward of his size, but it hasn't seemed to be there this season.
