Geelong has begun its end of season list management process and has informed Jordan Cunico and Jamaine Jones that they will not be offered contracts for the 2020 season.

Thought Cunico showed a bit, got injured at the wrong time, shame to see him go.

JJ is no surprise given he was overtaken by Miers and Atkins in the small forward position.

Cunico looked decent last year but he needed to show more than that given how long he has been on the list.

Probably got drafted to the wrong club. Could have seen him being more valued at a club like the Dogs where they play more attacking.

Tough caper. But remember when we kept Murdoch on for 18 years hoping he'd come good? Maybe move them on a bit earlier is more humane as they still have time to take another chance.

Cunico has a house in the region, so if no other team offers him a lifeline then I could see them offering him a spot on the VFL list.

Its exactly what a few of have mentioned... we can turn the list over but the quality of the turnover is suspect then you will continually fail to find replacements for the top 5-10 players in our side.. For every Miers we probably have a Cunico and a Jones .. three late picks .. one win

Agree , hopefully a rookie spot - still young , covers the ground well and a good kick off both sides - found it a bit as well.
Caveat is that all that stays relevant post the injury.
Could see him and Clark as a pair of dangerous players between the arcs for us

I think Buzza will be offered VFL contract and expect Z Guthrie and S Simpson to be put on the trade table

We can get all mad about prelim finals loses etc but it can be a ruthless business for these kids who have dedicated their whole life to the dream but are just on the fringe. Could see the Jones one coming but he had a great story and seeing as he was nominated for the community award at the Brownlow last night, sounds like he is a ripping bloke too.
Best of luck. You never know he might get a 2nd chance - Tim Kelly had never played a senior game of AFL when he was the same age.

Would think Zuthrie & Simpson would be on minimal money and will now take up a senior list spot next year, but in terms of a trade it would be for a 5th round pick or steak knives in another deal

Thinking they'd be better value on our list next year than what we'd likely draft with a pick in the 70s+

To be honest if they havent made a real impact by now they are not going too for the club, better to try some later players free hit and contracts expire when the draft gets bit more solid for picks...

Based on that, why would another club trade for them?

Simpson was often in the bests in the VFL and unlucky to not get an opportunity at senior level this year, while Zuthrie was ok in his only game.

As they are contracted, I can't see them not being on the list next year, if no reason it than insurance and if the have no impact in 2020, it makes the first couple of list cuts an easier choice.

Shame for both. Probably Cunico stuck behind Duncan / Menegola / Kolo / Touhy / Parsons type plus the injuries. Clark well ahead of him for any role in the 22 as well.

Jones not offering quite as much as our current smalls brigade and doesn't have the 'it' of a Narkle.
