A lot of clubs will be reducing their coaching size - it's not about what we can afford, but the spending cap for off-field costs being imposed by the AFL.
Horsley from subi joined as development coach.
I thought development coaches were the most junior coaches that helped players address their weaknesses. Nicoski become one the year after he was delisted and Rosa's gig with us started in that role. I think he's probably seen as a good "student of the game" as he got a lot out of himself without being the most gifted player.Interesting... Don't even think he was officially coaching at Subiaco...
Must have been impressive during the interviews then.
One of of those who was always going to coach, just expected that he would do it in the WAFL first.
Natural leader who always had a reputation as a player of being professional in preparation and having a hunger to get the most out of what their body could achieve.
Depends what kind of development the club are after from him - if it is based around mindset, approach and adjustment to senior football, then it could end being a very smart move.
Development coach that is younger than Hurn.
Quite like the idea of a guy coming in from outside the AFL system as a development coach. Especially a guy who is arguably the best WAFL player of the last decade and potentially the best state league player of the last decade. He’ll bring a different perspective and life skills unlike our usual jobs for the boys development coaches.
Also a guy who didn’t quite make it at AFL level. Sure he got drafted but did not forge a career at AFL level.
Will be able to explain to young uns - getting drafted means ‘jack’ You still need to earn the right to play games through hard work, diligence and attention to detail.

Wardrop (opposition Analyst) has retired. Club knew about it for 12 months, so it will be interesting to see if they have a big fish lined up to replace him.
It was interesting in the article how he said he was surprised at how much harder it is to win from Perth, given the logistics involved. This coming from a guy who was at out club for the 1994 flag, went with Malthouse to the Pies until 2007, then was at the Hawks for all 4 flags until coming to us in 2016. It's not the first time a Victorian has had their eyes opened once they came over to the West (Mitchell said similar things).
i dont get this.Vozzo said in his interview on ABC, that we aren't replacing van berlo and will reshuffle coaching internally to cover.
The link to the article is in my post you quoted. They are quoted in the article.got links to either of them saying that
That's the line that a wealthy club should cross at some point, "* the tax we can afford it and they don't let us spend our money on anything else anyway".i dont get this.
we are in a premiership window closer to 2am than 10
i dont gaf if we have to pay a tax - go hard - its a good time to be hiring....
he was - $15M I recall with no capacity footy but huge costs for Optus. Tough year for businessWasn't Nizzy in the press the other day saying the club had taken a huge financial hit this year?

Paywall so no details but this would take him to 11 years as coach passing Malthouse (10) and 1 year shy of Worsfold (12)
Our only other 3 coaches (Alexander, Todd and Judge) have a total of 5 years combined
Judge was after MalthouseWow - we are a good club. Our last three coaches have taken us from 1989 until now. All of them have won premierships.
Have we ever had a caretaker coach? Think about sh*t clubs like norf, Carltank and smellbourne and how many they've had over the years. No surprise about the results.
That was just yuk all round...Judge was after Malthouse
