Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Can he play through the midfield or is he purely a medium defender?
Thanks for that. Will watch with interest to see where we go. Sounds like the type we could use. Is he a good kick? Should have asked that at the start otherwise I know we won't take him.Definitely, can play an inside role. I suspect that's where his future will lie. Also has above average pace. Still a bit down to lose him, though certainly don't blame him. Down the pecking order in terms of the midfield talent we have. Especially with Jaeger coming in, he's probably a few places out from making the 22.

I'd say it's pretty likely the Suns will pick up a mature aged player Leigh Osborne (22) in the rookie draft. I also think Andrew Boston will be put on the rookie list as well after it was revealed in the Gold Coast Bulletin today that he was invited to start training with them. That'll mean three rookies; Josh Hall, Andrew Boston and Leigh Osborne. Anyone else have reason to think this won't be the case?Well well....mature AFL experienced player at 57?....and we take Sumner (btw, his highlight package is pretty darn killer). Was Boston the better option???? Sumner could go either two ways....NOWHERE or be another Lewis Jetta.
I really struggle with Liam on the list, he is 24 makes awful, awful, awful errors has no defensive game and had the same amount of kicks last year as Nathan Bock, I know some see and exciting upside but to be honest IMO he is a flakey Brennan.
Boston and Osbourne have been added to the rookie list now. Just reading through the names there is a decent amount of Queenslanders in the team, 11 (24%) to be exact. Below are all the Queenslanders and where they come from:
Zac Smith (Rockhampton)
Jarrod Harbrow (Cairns)
Karmichael Hunt (Brisbane)
Rory Thompson (Gold Coast)
Charlie Dixon (Cairns)
Jackson Allen (Brisbane)
Alex Sexton (Brisbane)
Joel Wilkinson (Gold Coast)
Clay Cameron (Brisbane)
Josh Hall (Townsville)
Andrew Boston (Gold Coast)
Does anyone know how many are native Qlders
Karmichael Hunt (New Zealand)
Alex Sexton (Victoria)
Jackson Allen (South Australia)
Joel Wilkinson (New South Wales) not certain on this one...
I'm sure the boys happily identify as Qlders now though!!
Prestia with his Vic roots and huge upside could mean he gets more opportunity elsewhere, I'd imagine most of the 10 Vic clubs would love him.
Hope he stays, have to see what happens...underrated and a gun.
Delistings:
Jacob Gilbee
Henry Schade
Tom Nicholls
Campbell Brown (will retire)
Jackson Allen
Borderline:
Jared Brennan
Daniel Gorringe
Liam Patrick
Jack Hutchins
Joel Wilkinson
Thoughts?
Definitely would not be delisting Allen or Schade. Allen is borderline if not best 22 in my eyes. Schade is a long term prospect and part of our future spine.
Gillbee maybe (50/50). Wilkinson definitely delisted. Probably delist Patrick and Hutchins. Brennan hard to tell at this stage, depends on his year.
Would throw Jeremey Taylor's name in the mix for delisting as well, has not shown enough for mine.
So delistings for me are; Brown, Taylor, Wilkinson, Hutchins, Patrick, Gillbee.
But very early to call, a lot will change.
Yeah I mirror these thoughts also...Brown is supposedly to retire, so thats 1. and the other 5 mentioned are probably in the gun to be honest.
key positions take time to develop, Gorringe is a top draft pick and so was Schade key positions usually take about 5 years. Even though we put so much heat on the likes of Day, Lynch and co...
Fair call on the key position players such a Sam Day.
If Sam Day had been drafted by an established club there is no way he would of been thrown into senior action as quickly as he has been. It is unrealistic to believe young key position players will rip it up on a regular basis.
Johnathon Brown is the last key position player I can remember who came into the system and had such an immediate impact ( I stand to be corrected).
As Hickey proved tall key position players are hard to come by and difficult to keep with other clubs circling!
So I suppose my point is to be patient with Gorringe and Day. Their time will come!!!
May has a similar stature just needs more consistency.
I hope Brown doesn't retire. We will really miss him these first 6 games and as much as most of us hate on him, he provides such experience andleadershipand toughness.
