Here's my take on our current list.

1. Leon Davis - to back up from his personal best year of 2008 would be great, maybe if one of the younger mids can really come on then Leon can spend abit more time up forward where he can hurt opposition with great effect.

2. Sean Rusling - at this stage, i dont want to overwhelm him with expectation. Hopefully he just gets out there and does ok. He must know this is possibly his last chance at it so hopefully he rewards coaching and medical staff with a good season. i'm undecided whther he'll be forward or back at this stage, but i'd like to see him given a go in his natural position - forward.

3. John McCarthy - with all things going well i see him playing 16-19 games across half-forward and through the middle. hopefully we see his ball winning ability come to the fore abit more and see him rack up 16-17+ tocuhes per game as an average. hopefully 2010 is a great year for him personally.

4. Alan Didak - in 2009 he brought up 30+ tocuhes for the first time, then did it afew more times. i think we should look more for quality over quantity in 2010 from alan. he only needs to get 15-20 effective touches to have an impact on the game and thats what i'm looking for from him in 2010.

5. Nick Maxwell - had a super 2009 in his first as captain, i cant say much except we want more of the same from Maxy in 2010.

6. Tyson Goldsack - whether the rumours are true or not about how serious he was discussed in trade week i really would love to see tyson play more than 18 games in 2010 and really cement the spot as the tall-running half back flanker in our team.

7. Paul Medhurst - i dont think i'd be too wrong in saying 2009 was Medder's worst as a magpie, so it can only get better for him in 2010. he was carrying injuries in 2009 so it's fair to say we all know what a 100% fit Paul Medhurst is capable of. If he recaptures his 2008 form we will only improve as a team too. makes us so so so much more dangerous when he's in form.

8. Harry O'Brien - like Nick Maxwell i only want more of the same from Big H. i loved his 2009, hardly put a foot wrong. his 50+ metre goals on the run were great too, good to know that he's capable of also being a line breaker aswell as a very good negating defender.

9. John Anthony - consistency is a key for jack in 2010. yes he kicked 50 goals in a team that finished 4th, but he did go missing in the big games abit too frequntly. got beaten by Lake (twice), Rutten (except for last 5 seconds), Scarlett (twice) and whoever St Kilda had on him. Needs to improve in the strength area and when he does he might be able to go for his grabs abit more confidently. if he's inconsistent then Rusling, Dawes and even reid or N Brown will swallow his position up.

10. Scott Pendlebury - had a great year in 2009 and i wouldnt expect any different in 2010. if he can add a goal a game to his stats it would be awesome.

11. Shane O'Bree - i'm not expecting much of him, and that's not an insult. with shane, he and the club would know that he's coming to the end, so from shane i would like to see him have an impact where he can, but if the younger players like mccarthy, sidebottom, beams, barham, blair all go past him then we will all say
"thanks for everything shane" because at least he's given them a platform to step up to. leadership he provides is why we've stuck by him and he still led the team in tackles in 2009. who's going to get his spot?? time to present your case kids.

12. Shannon Cox - started 2009 strongly then faded badly. rumours of weight issues always come up, if they are true it might mean he doesnt fit in the current landscape of disciplined footballers ona nd off the field.
i would like to see him play 15-20 games in 2010 if fit and working hard. like John Anthony there are many ready to take the spot if he doesnt want to work hard like blight, reed, goldsack, toovey etc...

13. Dale Thomas - although people think i'm a daisy hater, i'm not. i just think at this stage he should be giving abit more. i hope in 2010 he does. can he ever turn into a ball winning midfielder or will he always be an outside flashy flanker? 2010 i hope we find out. he showed glimpses in 2009 when he was given jobs.

14. Anthony Corrie - purely squad backup. if he plays it means we're in injury troubles or he's come off a game of 14 goals, 23 marks, 34 kicks and 15 handballs in the VFL. Sorry Anthony.

15. Leigh Brown - a little bit the same as Corrie except not as harsh. i would love to see Reid and Nathan Brown go past him this year, even Dawes and Rusling. now that we have Jolly, Wood and Fraser we should never see L Brown in the ruck again.

16. Nathan Brown - let's get 20+ games from him this year down back so that IF Presti pulls the pin we have someone ready made with 50 AFL games under his belt

17. Dayne Beams - was our best first year player in 2009 and i just want to see gradul but steady improvement with "Laser" Beams. hope he keeps getting good numbers through the middle and plays a decent amount of games, he should aim for 16+

19. Cameron Wood - i dunno what to expect honestly. Is Jolly-Fraser or Jolly-Wood our best combo? I suppose it's upto Cameron to make it hard for Mick to leave him out, but if he's out and we're winning and we're all fit it will be almost impossible to get back in.

20. Ben Reid - ok i was a premature hater of Reid, i can admit that. But now i see where his game is going. now what we all need to see is senior games into him. if it's CHB in the two's that he improved then lets see him at CHB. for pick 8 in 2006 this should be a year of 16+ games as a minimum.

21. Sharrod Wellingham - i dont want to be harsh so all i'll say is that i feel going forward that Brad Dick, Dayne Beams, Steele Sidebottom, John McCarthy, Dale Thomas, Tarkyn Lockyer are all ahead of him. so where does that leave him? at least i rate him better than Corrie!!
Needs to have greater presence on field. 10-20 games.

22. Steele Sidebottom - he can win the footy as we saw in a final. hopefully 18+ games this year and he pulls some nice numbers in the midfield.

24. Tarkyn Lockyer - same as Shane O'Bree, he'll start in the ones but wouldnt be surprised if afew go past him later in the year.
once again we'll say "thank you tarkyn" i'm not writing him off all together he can still play a part, but how much and where??

25. Josh Fraser - i would expect that he and Jolly are our ruck combo. Josh up forward or even sitting out on a wing a la John Barnes in 2000 for essendon would be nice. with jolly doing the bullocking in the ruck.

26. Ben Johnson - like Lockyer and O'Bree, i hope he has more left in him, but would expect afew to go past him. he definitely wasn't our worst in the prelim.

27. Jarrod Blight - i liked what i saw in 2009 VFL, hopefully we see him in the AFL at some stage in 2010. wing/half back means he has afew to get past in those positions. great leap and very quick. needs weight gain.

29. Ryan Cook - Anthony Corrie mkII, but if he does play any AFL games he would more than likely be used as a tagger due to his good engine.

30. Brent Macaffer - he just needs to be on his game, if Medders falls over again then Caff will get a gig, showed he can mix it in the ones in a final against Adelaide. has a good footy brain. abit more work to his engine and he could be a good player for us. He is versatile which means he could step in for Lockyer one week or Anthony the next, thats definitely in his favour. 15+ games would be good.

31. Chris Dawes - 15+ games and 30+ goals would be a good year for him.
fingers crossed he steps into the gap left by Rocca and bvecomes a monster power forward that will compliment Cloke and Anthony/Rusling/Macaffer.

32. Travis Cloke - he cops it off most Collingwood supporters when it appears he's not going flat chat. had a shocking year in 2009 on and off field so hopefully he puts it all behind him and reminds us of how he wont he copeland at 20 or 21 years of age. hopeing for a better goal kicking return too.

33. Brad Dick - goalsneak and forward line pressure player will need to work on his body as it appears the only reason he went missing when it counted in the finals. pinch hit in the middle looks out his reach but only because of our numbers that can do that already that have bigger bodies.

34. Alan Toovey - ok, some love him, others hate him but he gives 100% so he's invaluable when we need a player to do a job. we dont need him to win all one on ones, but just break even. he's probably still our best taller run with player so until someone better puts their hand up he gets the gig.

35. Simon Prestigiacomo - the ghost had an awesome year and like Maxwell and O'Brien more of the same Presti. How long will he fight off the need for a player that can win the ball too eg: Reid, N Brown??

36. Dane Swan - cant get any better than he was in 2009 personally, goal kicking can improve though as with general field kicking.

37. Luke Rounds - havent seen enough, probably will spend the 2nd year again in the VFL, if form warrants it he'll get a go in the ones. from what i've seen in the vfl he looks a long way from it, hope im wrong

38. Scott Reed - has a good attack on the footy but that wont get him a game in the ones. needs to keep working on his skills at vfl level. same as Rounds.

39. Heath Shaw - i might get killed for what im about to say. i think Heater has become almost too comfortable down back and needs to be challenged by becoming a midfielder and improving his tank.
just my opinion, he can look abit lazy down back at times, i would love to see him at least try and get higher up the ground because we know how damaging he can be.

43. Jaxson Barham - i dont see him as ever becoming a damaging midfielder, so therefore i would like to see Barham tried as a small back pocket on the likes on Milne, Betts, Stokes, Byrnes, A Davey etc... i think it could be a good move. 10-15 games would be acceptable.

Lachlan Keefe - havent seen much but have heard mixed reviews about him, just expect more developing in the two's

Jarrad Blair - i want him to make it, and i hope he does. he has shown more than some guys that are on our primary list like Rounds, Reed, Corrie and Cook. maybe can crack it for a game or two, that would be great.

Tristan Francis - was given a 2nd year as a rookie so we like something about him, i'll be honest and say that i havent seen him in a game.

Darren Jolly - becomes number 1 ruck and will give Swan, Didak, Pendlebury, Davis, O'Bree, Thomas first use of the footy which we havent had for years. exciting times because of this bloke.

i was quiet at work, thanks for reading, i'm open to debate, these are obviously only my opinions.

Agree with most. Although going forward Lockyer is ahead of Wellingham?

Going forward about 1 year, possibly 2 will probably see Lockyer retiring.

Fair Enough and you are Right in up to Woods to keep his Spot in the Team by Playing good Consistent Footy

22. Steele Sidebottom - he can win the footy as we saw in a final. hopefully 18+ games this year and he pulls some nice numbers in the midfield.

About right there with Steele and Also would like to see him with Run With Roles like he did against Vince in the SF

27. Jarrod Blight - i liked what i saw in 2009 VFL, hopefully we see him in the AFL at some stage in 2010. wing/half back means he has afew to get past in those positions. great leap and very quick. needs weight gain.

Also he has a Good Long Kick on Him and I agree Wing/Half Back where he will start in the AFL

31. Chris Dawes - 15+ games and 30+ goals would be a good year for him.
fingers crossed he steps into the gap left by Rocca and bvecomes a monster power forward that will compliment Cloke and Anthony/Rusling/Macaffer.

As you know I have High Hopes for Dawesey, Hope he Lives up to them and Can improve his Overhard Marking

Jarrad Blair - i want him to make it, and i hope he does. he has shown more than some guys that are on our primary list like Rounds, Reed, Corrie and Cook. maybe can crack it for a game or two, that would be great.

Would not Suprise me to see him on the Senior List next Season

Bit tough on JA. He kicked 3 goals twice on Rutten prior to the SF game.

Got beaten by Scarlett & Lake but they are both AA and guns. How many inside 50s did we have against St.Kilda? Not many making it harder for a key forward to score from limited opportunities.

JA is 21 playing in his 2nd year at AFL level. How many young KPP beat the best fullbacks in the business when they are still very young, especially for a KPP? (yes he is a KPP, 192 cm. Taller then Fevola)

Give him time to build up strength and size and he'll smoke plenty of fullbacks.

I don't think Daisy is ever going to be a high possession midfielder. I hope he can become a consistent winger/link player to provide some dash and flare that creates scoring opportunities with the odd pinch hit in the middle and across half forward, but he needs to be allowed to settle into one role 1st.
