Hey Tigarians,

Tom Derickx is set to run around Tigerland for another year with a new contract to be signed.
Not only is his last name awesome, but he might get a chance to find his feet with Angus Graham and Andrew Browne now departed.

Derickx at 24 years of age was selected at No. 63 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft playing two games for a win over Melbourne (debut) and the shock-loss to the Gold Coast.

RICHMOND ruckman Tom Derickx appears likely to stay at Tigerland, with talks continuing this week about a renewed contract.

The delisting of Andrew Browne and the departure of Angus Graham to Adelaide in a deal during Gillette AFL Trade Period early this week have put Derickx in the box seat to become the main back-up for leading big men Ivan Maric and Tyrone Vickery.

Woth one more year IMO - first year played more time in the ruck down at coburg and was pushing for selection before injury. Second year was behind Graham and Browne in the Ruck pecking order and as such was forced to play out of position as a KPP - give him a year as coburgs first ruck and see how he goes...

Injured in his first season, and the recruiting of Maric made it hard with Browne and Graham. Worth at least one more year. I think he might surprise a few next season. Has all the tools to become an AFL player, but needs to be given an opportunity.

Got real concerns over where this bloke fits in , looks ordinary as a forward and as a ruckman .

Wish Tom all the best for 2013 and hope he never has to play in seniors since that'll mean Maric is down. Hopefully he'll develop as the No. 1 ruck at Coburg instead of being pushed behind Brown and Graham. If he does enough to get another contract after 2013 then he's improved which is all we should be asking for.

A guy with 2 games under his belt and who has only been playing the game seriously for four years now, of which 1 was injury time - give the guy a break.

Looking forward to him developing in the role of first Ruck at Coburg while Elton develops as the forward/ruck. The two understudies.

Coaching staff see a lot more than we do. He hasn't brought anything yet, but nor has he had much opportunity.

Fantastic News!!!! Bloody rapt that we have held onto the answer to everything..Griggs can relax a bit now, knowing he wont have to shoulder all the 2nd ruck duties..

I think he just needs 5-6 games to run himself into form and get use to AFL level.
It's not like the step up from VFL to AFL is easy.

Take Orren Stephenson, a 30 year old VFL Premiership player found it hard, let alone a mature aged player with his injury problems.

Derickx is not good enough to be depth given he struggles even at Coburg.

Browne yes. He plays well at Coburg and even manages a few BOG's here and there. Not sure why we got rid of him. Younger, better, still had plenty of room for improvement.
