....all to Templestowe Oldtimer or did they make it to another VAFA club?

All to Tempy C or C, even one of ours has gone there as well. It's well and good to be offered cash, however, if don't play seniors get zero. A lot of those guys have a very high opinion of themselves.

Thanks Oldtimer. Thats a big exodus from one club to another. Wonder how many of them will actually get a game in the seniors though...

Good to see Tempy have a go at other clubs instead of raiding ours as usual hey Dee?

G'day Buddy - tough to say. Last year Sth Melb went through with a bullet, but Bentleigh found it more of a task.

Chump.

Unfortunately Bentleigh lost 11 players from their Grand Final side of 2006 while Sth Districs managed to keep most of their list plus some. Bentleigh's coach also stood down because of family commitments so that also through a spanner in the works for them.

I would imagine that would make it hard for any team the following season - let alone going up a grade. Point taken and makes sense.

Did the players retire, leave , go overseas.....will they get them back? If they won't then they will need some excieting juniors to come through pretty quick I would imagine.

Three retired, one went OS, one had surgery on an old injury, one or two disappeared of the face of the planet and a few just wanted to have a year out for whatever reason. Thankfully there are around six or seven of these guys who are back onboard this season.

Very good intra club match last night at Soldiers with good number of spectators including some boys from Westbourne. Great to see the Lee and Taylor brothers line up against each other. To see Cam chasing down Trent was a feature of the game. Would be the quickest 2 players I've seen. In fact the game was pretty fast with all the boys putting in. Some very good pick ups that will definately make seniors this year. Good to see Yaga put some through even if they were over the top in the goal square on his own.:D

G'day Chump,

Is key defender Joe Mazocca lining up for the Hoes this year?

Not Sure Wamba - I have not been down to the club thus far. I do hear that he has had a massive pre-season and has been doing sets of 7 over a sustained period that has shocked the panties of a few ladies!!

On a more serious note - I do hear they have lost a few from last year, so the trip up a grade could be a very testing one.

Werribee clear premiership favourites for mine. Have they managed to pick up any big blokes to compliment the Lee bros up forward?

A bit early to call but have picked 2 guys that will probably make it up forward.

A bit early to get that mantle I would think.......on the back of an intra-club? No doubt they should be strong, as they finished in the top four last year at this level, but clear premiership favs?

Absolutely agree. As was seen last year the comp was very close except for South Melb. Would expect the same this year.

The game had a terrible umpiring display. Speculation is that it was an attempt at "What not to do" for all D2 umps.

You get what you pay for. Maybe if you concentrated on playing footy more instead of sooking you would get a kick

Westie! very flattering mate but when the dust settled down at Parkdale last September I thought the year was very tight between the top three, with the top spot on the ladder changing hands a number of times and Werribee and Aquinas hammering South at times. The match where GE who at the time were 10th smashed the divi leaders SMD late in the year summed up a very close D2 season.

Anyway, looking towards this season I'll tip another tight year at the pointy end of the ladder. On no more than hearsay and a few conversations at various pubs around town I'll have a crack at tipping the D2 top 4.

#1 Werribee - Westie assured me after their prelim loss that the club was sitting on a gold mine of young talent from their WRFL U18's (he had been enjoying many post season beverages!) and I'm tipping we'll see the tigers unveil a faster, taller senior team with a hunger to go one game better and again dominate the reserve section.

#2 Old Westbourne - Has anyone been able to slap the smile off Fab Gatti's face since his team demolished D3 last year? Probably not, and behind the smile is the knowledge that Westbourne have the ammunition to win plenty of games this season. Beat Werribee in the local derby's and OW will finish on top.

#3 Old Paradians - Surely D2 is where this historically high division club bottoms out and begins it's climb back up the grades. Having played against this club before my grey hair set in I know D2 are in for some tough encounters, especially if their star player Boundy returns from his stint with the VFL's Northern Bullants.

#4 Glen Eira - All reports from Leila Rd say they have topped up the playing list nicely and should continue the rich vein of form that saw them climb from 10th to 5th in the last few rounds of 2007. GE will feel the heat from the St Mary's Salesian merger and possibly St Leos who at the moment are an unknown quantity.

Intra-Club practice match last night for St Mary's / Salesian. First real hit out for the year!! Was very impressive and with a few players to come back in for the next 2 practice matches, things look bright at Fernadale Park. Club 18's also had their first run around and numbers (and talent!!!) we fantastic.

I also attended the Werribee intra club, and whilst they did move the ball well, It is worth noting that both teams were having the game played the way they wanted: free flowing and high scoring. We know that this is Werribee's strength, but I will be interested to see how they go when they play agaisnt good defensive opposition.

New recruits to note are CHF Fastuca, who I believe played at Geelong West in the GFL last year, and FF Giarusso, who looks lazy but has good hands on a lead.

Do you mean Jason Fastuca? Big signing if it is..

Jason Fastuca
League:GEELONG & DISTRICT FL
Team:Werribee Centrals FC
Years Involved with club:9

Commitment, Capable & Clubman
Jason since joining us in 1998 has been the clubs most decorated player in our history. Three times League Best & Fairest in the Geelong District Football League, once runner up in this award by a vote, two times VCFL representative player, club best & fairest player and four time premiership player and captain of the senior for past five years with Centrals. He came to the club as a young player and has grown into a champion in our club and league. He has also become an integral part of our senior player group assisting with senior coaching and training but also going to the Junior teams and assisting them as a senior player should but does not always do. He is always the first to ensure he is at fund raising events and be part of making sure everyone else does as well. Jason is also a sponsor of the club now as he has become part of the Werribee Centrals culture. Being a club that is becoming younger each year we have chosen Jason as he represents the current face of the club and a person everyone would recognise at this time.
