Um... How does Bulleen feel about only playing richmond once for the second year in a row? Considering we gave you your only win last year you must have been as pissed as us. Perhaps we should play each other 4 times next year to make up the difference.

Was - we'd have loved to have played you guys more than once this year. Both teams have improved markedly & there will be an element of fun comparing who can pi$$ further when we do meet. Plus we've both got pretty good grounds in the scheme of D4, so I'm sure it's not too controversial to say that any game played on a good surface this year is a bonus.:thumbsu:

Wasn't the only win for us in the 1's, maybe the 2's it was. I personaly enjoy playing you guys so yes 4 times next year sounds good.

Long time reader first time poster.

The draw is unfair in D4. When you have 12 teams that is going to happen. You may get sides that finish 5th that had a favourable draw to the side that side that finished 6th. I think there will be some unlucky sides finishing outside the 5 because they had to play the top 3 sides twice.
Take a side like Bulleen who has already played the top 3 and will get them again later in the year. It will be a great effort for them to make the finals.

Yes, that is unfair, but what can you do? Seed teams based on their previous season's performance before the draw is first put together? I still find it humourous (as has been posted here previously) that when the initial draft draw is sent out, clubs can make their recommendations to amend it... and then the final draw is sent out, disregarding all clubs that were happy with how the first draft was laid out!

The Pro thinks Clubs are lucky that there is a final 5 instead of a 4 to compensate for the un eveness of the draw. Your never going to be happy with your draw. Soth Mornington play the top 3 once but then have to travel every second week. No one wins.

It may be a little unfair but lets face it if you have 2 chances at beating the top 3 sides and you cant do it you are not going to go far in the finals anyway!

Correct.

There are few things as pointless as making up the numbers. Is anyone in favour of going to a final 8? (I'd hope not...)

The World Beaters haven't played a team above them yet this season.

Final 8 is a farce. Final 4 can end up with some good sides finishing their season early. The battle for 5th spot is shaping up to be a cracker, percentage will play a big part methinks!

True... and If you can manage to sneak in, then you'll be all the better off for the superior hit outs during the regular season. Just need to find a way to win a couple of those top of the table clashes.

Peter Pan,

What is you top 5? What order will they finish in?

My early season predictions were way off, so I'll start again.

WB
Kew
SFX
Albert Park

And for fifth it will be percentage between Richmond, Mt Lilydale and South Mornington... I'll go with Mt Lilydale for their home ground advantage. There's a good chance it will be percentage between 4th and 6th anyway. Margins will rarely be as important as they will be this season in D4!

So I'm bored today and went through the remaining games for the teams in the playoff hunt... Not including the top 3 who will already be in....

... it should be very close. I'm pretty certain Mt Lilydale will be in 4th spot though with their remaining schedule.

West B
Kew
SFX
ML

Then (assuming no big upsets) three teams will be tied on points, seperated only by percentage. My feeling is RC, AP, and South Morn. What the percentages will be like is anyones guess.

That was my initial assessment, but my sources suggest that Mt Lilydale haven't got as much to look forward to as AP as far as returning cattle.

I think it's clear though that the top three are likely as is, with the remaining two finals spots very tight. Sentimental favourites for me would be RC and South Mornington!

Yes, but Mt Lilydale has a pretty soft schedule from here on out... They could win their next 7/8 games without upsetting anyone. Not so for the rest of the pack.

Your sources are right I'd suggest P.Pan. Mt.LiL would only have maybe three guys to return who could 'walk' into the 1's. The club has played roughly 70% of the 2's trying to find the right mix, which is a big %!
They have played the top three sides once now going down to W.B in round 1 by 15 goals, lost to S.F.X in round 2 by 5 goals and Kew last week by 6 goals. They only play Kew and S.F.X again this year, which they will hope to win atleast one of them games to be a contender come finals! Which they will make!

I'm as bored as Waz and with all this talk of injuries and who is available and who isn't available I perused the website and found interesting info regarding player availability.

After 6 rounds the following players from each club have played every game:

WB 13
SFX 13
BC 13
EP 12
BHN 11
KEW 10
NB 10
RC 9
ML 9
AP 8
STO 8
SM 5

If anyone has reason to complain about injured or unavailable players then SM has every reason too.

dose it really matter, if you cant beat the top 3 sides, what is the point of making up the numbers. This is a non topic

Stats can lie or be turned to make a point either way.
BHN had 9 senior players unavailable last weekend, that is not counting the 2 out for the season (early) with knee recos.

Several of these players have not yet made it on to the paddock yet.

So it may look like they have had a settled line up, injuries and unavailability has seen 4-5 regular weekly changes.
Most clubs at our level live or die on their injury list and I would not try to portray BH's injury/unavailability problems as anyworse than their foes.
It must be the hardest thing for coaches to deal with each week. An amateur player is often more likely to miss in the interest of staying healthy for work, as opposed to paid players who may feel more compelled to get out there as often as possible.

Even so, I would not put this down as an excuse for BHN. The boys have not got going at all this year. Opposition teams have all played good footy and the comp is constantly getting tougher. No such thing as an easy 4 points anymore.

All at BHN realise we have to raise the bar to stay competitive. We are happy to see clubs like Snakes and Cobras improving through hard work, we wish they wouldn't do so against us lol.

Dear All D4 faithful,

If you find yourself bored anytime after lunch this Friday, I wholeheartedly invite you to tune in to the online "Ammo Show" where Rosco (Harper to most on BF) and I will showcase D4's matches for the 1st time this season.

Depending on editing, the D4 preview/discussion should be roughly 10 minutes, and will be very early on in the piece (so those silvertails in A and B will have to wait until the end of the show for their regular dose of review/preview).

Hope you guys and girls enjoy it if you get the chance to log on and watch/listen.

Cheers

Fraser
