Loved daisy when he first burst on the scene, fast and at times brilliant with a huge leap for his size combined with decent hands made him very watchable but he tended (as do most young players) to fade in and out of the game.

Mick moved him down back to give him responsibility and teach him to play as part of a team, in my opinion it's worked a treat.

Now much more team orientated his attack on the ball and the ball carrier is vastly improved to the point he is now almost as likely to hurl himself into a pack as stream past it looking for the receive. Some of his attacks on the ball in the finals saw him hurl himself into the pack at full speed and for a player of his lightish build that is outstanding.

His finishing by foot still isn't consistently as good as it could be but if he can lift that he could be a very difficult player for opposition coaches to match up on.

Looks to me like he played a similar role to what Leon played in 2009.

Daisy has made that wing spot his own now. Looking forward to more of it.

Daisy is a modern day version of Graham Wright. Wright started off in a blaze of glory as a HFF but after a while tapered off badly. It wasn't until Lethal moved him to a wing that he became the great player he was - and more consitent too.

Like you I'm a big fan of Daisy - kudos to Hine for going with players with big-match temperaments as shown in TAC GFs (eg Daisy and Steele). These 2 were our most consistent players in both of this year's GFs.

Will be interesting to see how Daisy reacts to being tagged

Bolded is very important to the Pies, it stretches other teams as they now need to tag Pendles, Dids, Cloke and Daisy as well as have good players on Swan (when they can find him) and the emerging Wellers and Dawsey. That's not even taking into account Beamsey and Sidey. And on top of that there's Krak and Taz coming into the side!! Yumm - tasty season coming up :D

I would think opposition coaches would put The Boot ahead of Daisy in any ranking of players who may get a tag.

As Leigh Matthews said in a call recently "You just can't tag everybody!"

Reality is most sides have one designated tagger and any other tag would require using a required player to sacrifice their game.
I can't see a coach playing any more than two "negating" player in one side.

Agreed perhaps I should have said that Collingwood now has another player worthy of tagging. The side is resembling one of those kiddies games with the pop up heads, you play by smashing the heads with a wooden mallet and when you mash 1 down another pops up. We now have a depth of midfield/forward talent that should be giving every other coach in the league headaches. You can't shut it down, as has been the case in years gone by - that's a warm and fuzzy feeling for any supporter

As an opposition coach this is the priority I'd have for taggers

Didak
Pendlebury
Wellingham
Thomas
Swan

Not because Swan isn't effective or damaging, but you get better value from a tagger on the others. You could probably include Maxwell in that list too.

It always amuses me when maxy knockers say he just plays loose and unaccountable football to get the easy possies.
Just the thought that our captain has a roving commission to drive opposition forwards and their supporters just slightly insane is great.

Would tale out the list I reckon. There is no vale tagging any others at this stage. I'd love to see Sidey demanding one in a year or two though.

Maxwell could get a defensive forward rather than a tag as could Heater and Harry at times.

Crows Tagged Harry and It did hurt our ReBound from Defense

I'm pretty sure Rawlings played on Sidebottom for at least a part of the North game this year. Even if for five minutes (I'm sure it was close to a half though), it is a compliment because Rawlings is a seriously good tagger.

Daisy's evolutuion has been interesting. Drafted 2, like drafted anywhere I guess, you could go either way. Be a superstar or be a disappointment.

He had the potential to go the wrong way I reckon..definite show pony streak early days and also appeared to tire himself with low percentage chases, which exhausted him out.

Maybe at other clubs he could have foundered, be a Richard Tambling, lots of promise but not reached his alleged potential.

I think we have a club and coaching structure now that probably does ensure we get more out of certain players than perhaps another club might?

Maybe Wellingham, Tooves, Johnno, McCaffer, Blair are types who may not have succeeded as well elsewhere?

Leroy i spose is a case in point, maybe Bally aswell.

Kudos to coaches.

Maybe Hine can thank them a bit aswell, for the same reason????

( admit that goes in reverse, the coaches can thank Hine also, but Hine gets lots of credit, whereas the coaches may not be recognised as much)

....can sense the flames heading in my direction....but oh well
