Dal Santo is the key ingredient to our team. When he is firing, so are the Saints. We hardly lose when he is at his best.

I believe it is necessary for the Saints too free him up, and give him as much space and time as possible with the Ball. Lay the block, give a shepard or get him the ball. Much like Geelong do with Ablett. His ball use is by far the best in our team this season, an I think if we can get it to him 30 times a match around the centre to forward 50, it will go a long way to winning the game. His our playmaker.

Opinions?

Yes! when Dal plays well we win, but i find him to be somewhat a front runner (which all clubs need). When we win Monty, Ball, Lenny and the rest of our midfield also fire and take the heat of Dal so he can do what he is made to do - Operate Smoothly

Get on Dal for the brownlow lads. $21 is healthy

Thats a good video. You cant rememeber really how good he was when he was in brownlow form till you watch it.
I hope he keeps getting better GO DAL!

Another 30 possie performance. May not get the votes this week because of Goddard and Montagna, but might sneak in for one. Loving his tackling this season!

Watching his and Goddard's disposals the past couple of weeks has been a real pleasure. Both are absolute sublime kicks of the football and will go a long way in contributing to our success this year.

The more I think about this thread, and as much as I'm enjoying Dal's play right now (he's my DT captain! :) ), the less I'm convinced it's true. The great thing about our team right now is that Dal ISN'T the key - neither's Kosi, or Roo, or Lenny, or Beeg. The great thing is we've stopped relying on a handful of players to be "the key", and are instead having a team effort with no passengers.

I reckon the great thing about the team at the moment is that we don't seem to have a 'key'.

It's great that Dal is playing well, and when he does we obviously do well because he's all class, but there's a lot more going on.

It used to be that Riewoldt was 'the key', but he hadn't kicked a goal till mid way through the last quarter last week and we'd still piled on 20+. That's a great sign, and the mark of a great time, that we're not relying on a few any more, the 'lesser lights' are stepping up too.

Clinton Jones and Goddard on the weekend were great, Farren Ray the week before, Gardiner fit and providing an attacking presence, Zac Dawson playing a role, Blake looking comfortable with the ball in his hands, Montagna racking up possessions and tackles. Dal Santo thrives when he's got support around him, and I reckon the midfield depth Ross has created (and to his credit largely created from within) has really helped him (how often have people called our midfield slow this year?) and the defensive discipline makes him a more complete player.

GO SAINTS!
